Just a few pics to view. To the people familiar with micarta sebenza inlays please take a close look at the last pic in this series. Is this normal to have any gap between the inlay and the handle slab? Thanks guys.

Are you talking about the gap between the two bars of micarta? If you are then it is normal.

No, I am talking about this gap. I hope it is normal. It was the first thing my eyes went to when I opened the package. Thanks for the response.

I would not be happy with that. One of the reasons a Sebenza is "worth it" is because they are flawless. I would consider something like that a "flaw" for sure. While it is functional, so is a high end Spyderco or Benchmade at half the price, tops. We don't buy Sebenzas because they are functional... we buy them because they are perfect. That is not perfect. I would send it back... and I would send it back to the dealer and get a replacement ASAP.

Forget this one guys. Just talked to the shop. All is good:thumbup:

If you've gotten a response from CRK about this, please let us know. I, for one, would like to know their position regarding the fit of the micarta inlay. It would seem that this is outside their standard tolerances.

There may be others here who are curious as well.

Thanks.

I'm with Archieblue on this one. I wouldn't be happy with that either. None of my micartas has had anything like that and I wouldn't expect it to be within CRK's acceptable limits.

+1 to what DallasSTB said

Is the "shop" you talked to Chris Reeve or an online store or some local retailer?

I'm thinking of getting exactly the same knife so yeah, I'm also curious about this.

I'd personaly want that repalced. It's not like micarta is a super rare material that has natural flaws one should of course put up with.

I talked to CRK. Otherwise the knife is perfect. They made no excuses and offered to take care of it right away. They have great customer service and I am covered. I do not feel like dealing with the dealer and having to worry about signature confirmation and shipping and.... This knife was actually a gift from my better half and I don't want to make a big deal out of it. I plan to just use it and when it really gets under my skin send it back for replacement. Maybe go for a natural inlay if possible. Nothing is perfect in life but I was extremely surprised by this. I still put CRK light-years ahead of Spyderco or Benchmade IMHO.

What I was told is I can send it back anytime for a no charge refurbishing and replacement of the micarta with the shipping covered. I love CRK knives and this incident will not at all change my outlook of their product. Do I wish this would have never happened? Yes. Will I continue to support CRK? Absolutely.

Thanks for all of the input gentlemen.

Excellant attitude. Mistakes will hapen. It's what is done about them that is important.

I would send it back. If I wanted a mistake made on my knife I would buy one from Taiwan. Send it back and get it taken care of.

I hear what you are saying bigbob. I was just wondering if it is possible to remove the scale, receive a new scale from CRK and put it in with the 3M tape myself.

It is okay if people are unsure, it is not everyday that you would wonder how to do this I guess.:)

A note on from the factory sharpness; It came only a few light passes away from this (hair popping:D):
