Large 21 pivot loosening too quickly?

Good afternoon all!
Ive noticed recently that after about 2 dozen openings, my large 21's pivot will loosen. Is this typical for everyone else? i use liberal amounts of frog lube on my 21, could this possibly be the culprit?
Thank you for any and all advice

Tighten it more so it locks better against the TI. It should not happen again. The hex bit should just bend a tiny bit when tight enough.

Ive been tightening it down as much as possible, but ill try harder this next time. Thanks for the help!

The screws should really gall into the Ti. Really vise versa, and not budge. Try one of the other screws in the pivot and see if it still happens. Those screws really shouldn't move on you once in place.

DO NOT USE LOCTITE!!!

They are not designed for it. If the threads are clean and you give it a good snug fasten and it still loosens then you may need to send it in for warranty.

I ve used a bit on all myCrks for years. Its harmless. (Imo) I used to have frame/pivot screws loosen up all the time, not anymore:)

I was trying to avoid using loctite because i know that the bushings system shouldnt loosen so easily. Ill try the different screw trick and try cleaning off the pivot. Hopefully one of the two ideas work. Ill update this thread with my progress when i get a chance to disassemble.

If the screws and threads are clean, they do not need loctite.

If any of that froglube is getting on the threads or under the bolt heads, that could be the cause. The stainless steel bolts should gall a bit against the soft titanium, and that will prevent them from loosening.

Also make sure the Ti touching the screw head is also free of any surface lubricant. You want metal on metal contact there.

I'm with lummuhj on this. Don't fear the loctite! Just make sure you use the 'mild' strength purple.

I have never had any screw on a Sebenza to loosen on its own.

1st I would make sure the other screws are also tight. You really shouldn't need to put anything on the threads-but another option is a little Teflon tape(plumbers tape)

I find the screws loosen under hard use. I have thought a lot about this as I know common knowledge is no Loctite is needed on a 21. I use my sebby's a lot on weekends sharpening sticks camping, and during the weeks sometimes stripping cables etc. The screws tend to loosen for me when I am applying a lot of torque on the handles, thus twisting the slabs away from each other in my grip. I think over time this slightly shifts the screws and they start to back off. I notice they are loose when the knife starts to rattle. My 25 does the same thing (The back-spacer screws without lock-tight) as does both my large 21's, and the back-spacer screw on my Umnum. I don't beat on my small wood-inlayed 21, so it stays tight. I have come to believe people's experience may vary depending on what they are using the knives for, and how much twisting of the slabs is going on.

What I have decided for myself is I would rather use a small drop of light duty Loctite, that torque the living daylights out of the fasteners to keep with CRK tradition. Being a tradesman, I hate to see everything get all galled up, think about all that unnecessary stress on the screw threads, and wear out the hex head, when a little Loctite is just fine. They put military jets together with Loctite. I have no issue with the product, though you have to have it on hand.

My Large Insigno did it for awhile when I first got it. No matter how tight I made it, it'd loosen. After carrying it for awhile it stopped doing it. I guess it has to break in somehow(?). Never figured it out. I rotated the screws (both parts), and it didn't make a difference.
