Hi,

I've been shopping for this knife and everyone is out of stock. I think I read here that CRK is a couple of months backordered too.

I have found a couple of them at the new higher price tag but packing the old steel S30V.

I'm wondering if the hold up is due to the changeover in blade steel to S35VN or if they're still going to only be made in S30V when they become more readily available again.

I'd like S30V just fine as I do the newer S35VN. If the reason for the micarta inlay versions is due to a change in blade steel. I might just wait and get the newer steel.

Don't know if I should wait, if the steel isn't going to change I might as well pick one up now.
What do you guys think is going on? :)

Get a new one with the s35 steel . Order it from CRK and wait if you have to. If your gonna pay more might as well get the latest and greatest.

I've seen a little bit of price gouging on them at just a couple of site - reputable site too. I won't be shopping there anymore. Everyone is mostly out but at least their prices are in line with CRK. I think that's exatly what I'm going to do. Thanks! :)

I bought mine a year or so ago, and paid the standard (not inflated) price. The vendor was in-state, so I paid a small chunk for sales tax, but it was worth it.

I recently bought one from a member here. I opted for the older S30v version mainly because I got a pretty good deal and there was no stamp on it.
Not that big of a deal but if theres a choice between the two Ill get the plain version.
Also theres a couple micartas on the exchagnes right now. PM me if you need any help.

I ordered an Insingo Micarta direct from CRK about three months ago and am still waiting. I hope it is ready soon. I would say if you can get one for a reasonable price, get it.

I found some (S35VN) in stock with very little google-fu effort.
Looks like one retailer has upped the price by $15 from just last week when i bought mine.

email sent.

There has been a recent price increase of $25 on Sebenzas and Umnumzaan models. I would guess any production delays can be attributed to production schedules within the factory. Happens with most small manufacturers

Yeah I saw that - there's a few who have upped prices $10 to $15 - for now. Everyone else is at MAP. I won't forget them. Everyone's got to make a buck, I get it, but c'mon. :thumbdn:

I decided to wait for an S35VN blade as it isn't a big rush order or anything. I like S30V a lot but I felt like the steel upgrade, although minimal, was fair for the price increase.

I had one vendor that I phoned yesterday about one he had in S30V. He called me back today and asked why I didn't order it!? He then dropped the shipping charges but 9x% of Sebenzas come with free shipping.

Owning (2) S35VN lg Sebenzas w/o inlays sure makes it easier to shop a little more leisurely. The idea of just forgetting about i crossed my mind too. The inlays look cool though. :)

Arrgh! Still looking but nothing around except one site with a $520 price tag. It has two thumb studs and stonewash (tumbled). Then for $5 more you can get a polished blade. I think that would be pretty for about 5 or 6 cuts and then get all dinged (no scratch resistance). CRK lists them at $485 so is another thumb lug the reason for the inrease or is this a supply & demand thing? :(

Bummer.

I was looking for a fancy Cobochan Graphic Damascus Seb, a dealer had one but did not bother to respond to my questions. It's a site that sells gadgets and shaving supplies, targeted towards gentlemen.

Cziv,

I'm going to PM you with a site that has what you're looking for for $485. I can't remember if they charge shipping or not.

This guy might still have his up for sale - ya never know?? http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...ascus-Blue-Star-Sapphire-Cabochon..PRICE-DROP

The blue star sapphire cabochon graphic damascus Sebenza is one of the few graphics that's really pretty breath taking - I mean just saying it all at one time. :D
