I have the impression that Bocote is the least attractive wood inlay among the current line up of wood inlays for Sebenza and Mnandi. Everybody loves Box Elder Burl, for its color and pattern variety. Many of us may feel that "elegant/exclusive" wood has to be either somewhere in the red or black color range. Bocote doesn't look that much exclusive. It appears more like a standard wood carpenters may use for furniture and I must admit that also for me it was the last of my "Woodies" to arrive at my little collection.

Now having it here at home with me I do enjoy its color and its pattern. Particularly if you put it next to others it adds his own character to the family. So here we go with a few pics of the Bocote w. raindrop damascus blade and the the rest of the bunch.

Let me know what you think about it.

Bocote has long been my FAVORITE of the various CRK woods that are available. Yes Box Elder, Camel Thorne are beautiful in some pieces, but for me, its Bocote All The Way....!!! Some is plainer than others, but some is also highly figured. I have a couple that are pretty nice and its the uniqueness of the grain on these particular pieces that drew me to them. I have had it referred to me that Bocote is a "poor mans ivory". On some pieces, it does indeed look like some beautiful bark ivory. Enjoy your Bocote, your not alone in Loving It....!!!

I agree, I love it too. I have a Seb on the Exchage right now with some nice grain, and I sold 2 standout Mnandis a while back. One had very corly grain, the other had very pronounced and straight grain. The only thing they had in common was that color.
