I am looking for a large AA Flashlight. I would prefer 200+ Lumens with a long runtime. I have several of the 2xAA lights and would like something with a longer runtime at the higher lumen outputs.

Fenix TK40 or 41 maybe??? Ive had my TK40 since about the day they were released. It is a great light, about the size of a Surefire M6, REALLY bright, but is has different outputs when needed, they are discountinued but you can still find them for @ 125-135. These would get my vote. I bought mine from an ols shop that sold flashlights for less than everyone. Paid just over $110 for mine.

EDIT to add, here is a size comparison incase you can not find one on google... TK40 is on the left 2nd up from the bottom and it fits in a Maxpedition UFBS just fine, this is how I carried mine during one of my bored summer weekend security jobs at a local racetrack. You should see what it can illuminate in a the back of the pits or a satellite parking lot.

How about the Fenix LD40, Fenix LD41, or Fenix E41?

Fenix LD40:
Neutral tint (XP-G emitter) High of 248 lumens for a little over 3 hours and low of 4 lumens for 245 hours.

Fenix LD41:
Cool White tint (XM-L emitter). High of 520 lumens for a little over 2 hours and a low of 5 lumens for 160 hours.

Fenix E40:
Cool white tint (XP-E emitter). High of 220 lumens for 3hrs and a low of 34 lumens for 31 hours.

Something to keep in mind, both the Fenix LD41 and E40 are not available yet but will be released (I believe) this month.

  • The LD41 will be the brighter of the 3, but has the least amount of runtime on high and will not throw as far as the LD40 or E40.
  • The E40 will throw the furthest of the 3, but is not as bright as the LD40/LD41. The low on the E40 is a bit high at 34 lumens.
  • The LD40 is in a nice neutral tint (not available in cool white), and is a nice compromise between the LD41 and E40 in terms of throw, lumens, and runtime.
