I was at a local knife store and was browsing over the Buck knives when I saw a fairly large folder with double, slanted, stainless steel bolsters. It had wood handles, was a lockback and the blade was at least 3" in length. Didn't do more than glance at it but I can't seem to find any thing larger than the 501 Squire with a 2.75" blade. The blade may have been longer than 3" on the one I saw. What is the name for this knife. Is this the Duke?

Hi Cutter17,

It sure sounds like the Duke 500. This knife is about the same size as a 112. Take a look at the attached pic.

Interesting Duke there, jb4570...

I wonder how they fasten those retirement pins onto the bolsters...(I'm assuming that's what they are; lapel pins or whatever)...I recall someone had a pic of a New South Wales Police Buck something with an escutcheon on the bolster too...

Do you have to send the escutcheons in to Buck??? Is there a minimum order of knives, to qualify for the special etching and escutcheon-fastening???

I should think Buck would have a web page for the special mass-orders...

You know, so a group (who knows - maybe a Forum group) could start up a thread for a limited-edition special-run Forum knife... ;)

Hi trax,

I have no idea how the mini badge is attached:confused: Most likely some of that super duper glue they have!!! This was a 1981 limited edition mfg by buck......so no idea where they got the escutcheons from. Maybe there is enough of us to get a limited edition Buck BF going:D

Hay there Buck forum pals.....What do you say.....anyone want to start our own limited edition Knife? Joe H. if you read this how many knives must be ordered? Anyone else know?

hi jb thats a great idea but with so many fine choices of model and style it would have to be a ongoing neverending series with several selections available per year :D :D it couldnt get much better than that
