Large and Small Knife Pairs…and Case vs Buck stockman

Anyone else out there accumulate knives in pairs? Right now, the pairs I have are…

Yellow Case Peanut and Sodbuster Jr
Old Schrade peanut pattern and a smaller Schrade lock back

I have a Case black jigged synthetic peanut with no mate though. I thought a black handled stockman pattern may be an appropriate choice. Case makes a medium stockman in the black jigged handle, though a Buck stockman with a black handle would also work.

Any preferences one way or another between Case and Buck stockman's?

Personally, I prefer the Case traditionals to the Bucks, they are sleeker and prettier, and still plenty rugged. Here are a few nice Mutt & Jeff pairs.

I don't accumulate in pairs. I buy what specifically looks useful to me.

I prefer Buck over Case. While I agree that the Case knives are prettier,
►the Buck holds an edge better, because they heat treat the steel to a higher hardness.
►I like that Buck sharpens the blades all the way to a pointy tip, while the Case designs tend to have rounded tips.
►Also, for the stockman patterns I prefer the Buck design which places the sheepsfoot at the opposite end from the clip. This makes it easier to open for a rightey such as me.

Buck & Case - my favorite two working brands (among current producers). If I were you I'd get one of each and go from there - in a month or two you could let us know what your experience has been. I see strong points with both brands and carry them pretty equally (got to get another 6318 - my favorite Case Stockman for EDC use) as I gave my user to a buddy. OH

My interpitation of pairs are part of my EDC.. For pairing up Case a gunstock with a peanut in red bone..Bucks a 110 or 112 paired up with a 303..in Schrade a LB-7 OR A 125OT WITH A 34 OR 8 OT...As the way I do it Case is for the weekend,Buck and schrade are for work and hunting.. three set-ups WILL have a modern one handed folder or a fixed blade (hunting) mixed in....
