This is my 8th finished piece this week, forged the blade last week though, don't know whats going on but I like it. Just made this for the fun of it, wanted to see how big a blade I am capable of making. The blade is forged 5160 1/4 thick, 17.5"overall with a 12" useable blade. If you look real close you can see a wavy hamon line. The deer crown I found last year while hunting near Cadiz Ohio, wish I'd found the whole deer, capped with red and white spacers and a piece of bubinga. A little filework on the guard and blade, and some mosaic pins rounds things out. Any comments good or bad would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

That is an awesome bowie. I would say that you definitely CAN make large blades! I do have one question though. Are you a Tiger or a Bulldog?

Amazing to see such great hand made craftsmanship in today's times.

Well done

I'm a Bulldog and my wife is a Tiger, makes for some interesting times during football season. Thanks Kieth, I'm not a big fan of file work either but thought i'd give it a try. I'm more into the classic styles and the old way of doing things, everthing done by hand in house.

Then you definitely married UP! I graduated from Massillon in 1977. I work for Timken.

The filework may not be "classical Bowie" but it sure is nice.
I'm also happy you had sense to marry the woman you did. Remarkable in a Bulldog!

I just know about Bulldogs and Tigers. Where I'm from the Tiger is the preferred associate.
I would think that anyone called "Joesouth" would understand.:D;)
