I have a blade from an industrial paper cutter currently in my grubby clutches and was wondering what I could possibly do with it?

It's 18" long by about 3" and about 1/4" thick. The manufacturer said that it is tool steel (modified D2) with an "inlay" for structural support (it has 4 large holes for screwing it to the machine control arm. Rockwell is 58ish. It's defiantely high carbon because the blade has developed a bit of rust/patina from being indoors and cutting paper.
similar to this machine here cutter

It can push cut through 500 sheets of paper  and weighs about 10lb  :D

Any Ideas what I could do with it? I really don't have any knife making experience nor tools but am just curious if this large knife could be made into another knife or several. Or if anyone could do anything useful with it.

Thanks,
N2

With out the right tools to work it in the hard state, you'd have to have it anealed and then work it with hack saw and files.

I would hang on to it, you might have a use for it down the road as you gain tools and experiance. I know I couldn't do anything with it. In most cases buying new steel is way cheaper in the long run than scrounging, though not as much fun.

Cut a slot in a baseball bat and epoxy the cutter in it.You now have a Mad Max Survival Axe.

would have to agree with bladsmth, mad max it now. You can always anneal it and forge out stock if you can. otherwise stick it in the corner for a rainy day.

I was just overwhelmed with that much sharp tool steel and had to take it home. Actually having a use for it came later :p

I may just do something like the mad max with it... I'm just not sure and unskilled.

Thanks for the advice so far.
