Large Bone Collector.... Worth Trading for ZT 350?

Hey guys! Got a large bone collector for Christmas but the ZT 350 has really caught my eye. I have yet to find one in a local knife shop and I was wondering if there were any significant differences between weight and grip, or how they compare as edc knives. Thanks for your input.

The ZT will be a thinner profile, flatter, slab sided etc. Not as comfy in hand as the BM but probably similar in overall length/closed length etc. Check the manufacturer web pages for weight. I'd rather have (and do) the BM with the AXIS lock but that's me.

I haven't handled the BM, but I fell in love with the ZT the first time I held it. The ergos are much better than you would think just from looking at it. I like the speed safe over the axis lock so for me it would have to be the ZT. As a matter of fact it'll probably be my next knife.

I can't put in on the ergos, but I have carried the 0350 for a whole and love
It, before that, I carried a BM 580. They both are awesome, I tended towards the shape of the benchmade, but the 0350 is really useful with the serrations. I use them at work a lot.

I tend towards the axis lock, as it is more convenient in my opinion. Both are awesome though

Good luck with the decision

I've had both and it's no contest for me. I'd WAY rather have the ZT than the BM. For some reason, once the Bone Collector was in my hand, it didn't do it for me. Of course, I don't have either one anymore. But I would definitely re-buy the ZT. Ergonomically, the ZT felt better in the hand.

I don't own either, but from what I've heard seen and gathered from playing with a Bone collector its mostly just a reptilian with wooden handles. I wouldn't trade a 350 for one. but that's my opinion as someone who owns neither :/

I've had both and I only now have the ZT 350 in my possession, I sold the bone collector. I was initially intrigued by the Bone Collector as, like the OP stated, it's like a Griptilian with a better handle and blade. Mine had the G-10 scales with the D2 steel and while I liked the combination it was a heavy and bulky knife. It was really wide and with the weight wasn't as nearly easy to carry as a Griptilian which I like. The ZT 0350 is thinner and I thought they were close weight wise, both some would call beefy knives. The ZT 0350 was just a better feeling and easier to carry knife that I would replace in an instant if I were to lose the one I have....

Yes the axis lock was very smooth on the Bone Collector, but the Speed Safe ain't no slouch either and can be disabled and still function well with just the flipper.

I have both knives and prefer /carry the BM more. I have more confidence in the Axis lock and IMO the BM design appears to be more refined. I'm also a D2 junky.

If I had to pick one , the ZT would get sold in a minute.

I know what the ZT-0350 is, - I've fondled one - and I don't need one. I have the 0301 - and it is a moose of a knife. The 350 has the S30V blade - good steel, just a bit 'tactical' for me. I love my 0551 & 0561, but they weren't in the question. I have a small BC in walnut, a large bicolor BC, and a lockback folder BC in cocobolo. I like the blade designs - the hand fit - even the ultra sharp D2. Not so fond of Waddel's skull logo, but I can live with it. Given the choice, I wouldn't trade any one of my trio of BC's for a ZT-0350.

Stainz

For me, Bone Collector. Nice handle, great flat ground blade. 0350 has a recurve, and it's one of Kershaw's edge under the scales and thumbstud designs, which I personally dislike.
But the handle is extremely comfortable.

It's more like a Presidio. I have the BC Large and love it, you oozes quality and craftsmanship. ZT's are great and would love to have one, but I wouldn't trade my BC for one.

I'd like to add that I have owned a knife similar (g10 Tyrade) to the 350 with the textured, flat G10 handles, and for me there is no contest in comfort between the two. The BM has rounded G10 that is way more comfortable/ergonomic. But, at the price of bulkier pocket carry. I found a nifty BM belt pouch for it that I intend to give a shot next camp trip, although it is not uncomfortable to pocket carry.

oozes quality and craftsmanship.

Yes that's what I was trying to say
