That's a beautiful lookiing bowie all right - how about some specs - dimensions, materials etc? And does this Chinese bladesmith have a name?

Roger

BLADE : 58hrc wrought d2 with professional heat treatment
handle :rosewood
17"OVERALL
12 1/4"blade

this bladesmith names " zen one " (in fact we call him "old lee") from the northeast of china.
It looks tough,very sharp.

You took excellent pics. Blade looks awesome. Where did he learn his trade since the Bowie is an American blade?

in fact,as i know there're many american blade-smith good at making japanese style blade
This blade is design by myself(using autoCad)To my surprise my CBS(chinese blade-smith :) ) friend finally achieve it with hand and just using most simple tools
To me it's a master piece, although it looks like by machine cause it's too accurate, but all i want is such simple and tough style

Beautiful , to say the least. That one photo with the tip of the blade , perfect ! Very nice :)

I remember when I first found a Japanese Bladesmith that made kitchen knives. I never knew what I was missing until I bought my first Murray Carter Muteki and later a Shinichi Watanabe.

Does this bladesmith communicate in English or have a website?

Stay Sharp,
Sid

This is top grade work if all was done by hand. There would be great demand in the U.S. Hope we will see and hear more about your friend.

Since you are saying he is a bladesmith, does that mean that this is a forged D2 blade? I know that wrought can mean hammered, but it has many other meanings as well.

By the way, I am very impressed. I would also like to welcome you to Bladeforums.

D2 i think this steel can not be hammered on fire ,so wrought MEANS form (D2) by a mechanical or hydraulic press. This is the first working procedure before cut the steel.
(my english is poor ,hope you can understand what i mean)

Private Knife-making is forbiden by local goverment in China. So all the knife-maker are in the mode like "underground"
according to the handmade knife price in china "zen one" can not get high income but as we all know "FORGE" knives needs space and a lot of equipment so he will often meet fiancial problems that's why in such situation he is still try to testing forge knives and make improvement
