Thats killer John, can't wait to see the assembled pics.
What is the steel and OAL, I am guessing about 17"?

Beautiful Knife John!
Everything about it looks great.
I am really impressed with the direction you have been going with your knives over the past year.
I really like the coined guard and spacers. Adds a touch more class to an already great looking knife.

VERY nice! Like the hamon VERY much as well as the details on the guard and spacer.

Thanks for the feedback, gentlemen. I appreciate it.

Ben- I added specs to the original post. But you were pretty close with your guess. :)

I'm with Mark, I love the coined/reeded guard and spacer. That's a really classy touch.

I'd call it a hunting sword.
Very nice work! Lots of nice and interesting surprises all over the place.

I have so many knives on order that I had decided not to tempt myself and drive to Missoula this weekend... I think you just changed my mind.

John,
I don't believe we've met, but I was just talking with Jon Christensen and I asked him if he'd be at the show.
He said he wasn't, but that if I did, I should look up a freind of his named "John Doyle"...
And then I log in here and there you are! Jon said you did some good work, but this piece is amazing!!
I thought it was more of a short sword until I read the specs! :D Besides some really geourgeous Ironwood, that blade is awesome! A big fan of the Hamon style treatment a lot of guys are doing now, it's really a visual forte on such a large blade! And a take-down, to boot!
Really makes me think I may just suck it up and drive over just to see this piece!!!
Now, if I can just con the boss into Friday off!!!

Wow John, this is one amazing piece! I found my eyes moving over every inch finding new details that are perfectly placed. I think you put just enough into this blade to keep it classy not crossing over to cluttered. You going to get some pro photos of any of these? this one would be a great candidate IMO. (Not that there is anything wrong with your photos :p)

I also had a chat with Jon Christensen at the Boise show last year and he only had great things to say about your work J.!

Thanks for the comments all. I appreciate it.

Joe, thanks for taking the time to post.

Jon has been a great help and mentor to me as well as a great friend. He has influenced my knives quite a bit.

It would be cool if you could make it over to the show and say hi. But that's a long ways to travel on short notice and I understand if you can't make it.

Thanks for the kind words on this knife. Hope to meet down the road sometime if not this weekend.

John

John another great knife. Some knives are so cool they must get a name I like Long Cloud or Lone Cloud .

Just a little update for everyone on the show. John was awarded the Best Bowie for this one. I comes as no surprise to me. I had the pleasure of visiting with John before the show Friday morning. He let me handle this one and I think it was an hour later I gave it back to him. The new owner is going to be very happy with this addition. John and I had tables next to each other and what a pleasure that was. Thanks John for the good times this weekend.

Congrats John, I had not doubts on this one! Thanks for the update Bruce, John is definitely a top notch guy.

Thanks Bing. I really appreciate the kind words and all the visiting we were able to do.

Congrats too for your "Best Damascus" award on that long lean and mean fighter! Well deserved too.
