Large chris reeve classic.. Help? Bg42? Need some help guys

Hello, went to a local gun and knife show today.. I have been into knives for a long time now.. but this is my 2nd reeve.. I am far from an expert on these.. its a user ... i bought it from a gun guy that had a few nice knives.. I was wondering if I could get some help on blade steel.. there is B 01 on both scales.... I didnt get a chance to clean it yet.. excuse the lint in pics... any info would be appreciated.. If it is bg42 whats the advantages or disadvantages? thanks! Ernie P.S. about what year is it from?

Higher chance that it will be BG42. While this is in that period but since it is quite close to the Cut off date, it is possible that it can also have the S30V.
Only way to know is to open it up and look for the markings on the blade. A c suggest a s30v. Absence is a bg42.

ok .. i took it apart.. there is an S on the blade... any ideas? ill edit a pic in my org. pics
 
I have read the S denotes the S35VN.
It is possible the folder started off as a BG42 or even S30V and then rebladed recently to S35VN.

The OP is referring to a classic. Why is his blade marked with an S instead of a C.

From 2002 to 2008, S30V was used in both the classic and regular. If c is for the classic, what was the alpha for the regular? It could not have been a S because the blade shape is different for a regular.

Can a s30v blade for the sebenza 21 go onto a classic frame?

The classics and 21s are the same, so some of the extra classic blades went to the 21s and vice versa. Not sure if you can fit regulars into the classics or 21s, but it was never meant to be. The large and small regulars all have blades a hair shorter than their classic and 21 counterparts as well as a larger belly.
