I need some help.... I recently bought a large classic on the fs forums. I took it apart it lube it. It was made in 08' and was pretty much lnib when I got it.

I have Tried to put it back together many times. I always have a gap that's a the right side that's about .008, about half the thickness the thickness of the big washer.

When I have the blade out of the knife with the 2 washers both on the correct side of the blade they are flush with the center bearing. I have spent at least 3 hours trying

to get the knife back together correctly. Any ideas about what causing the gap between the right scale and the small washer. The washers are not bent. Very frustrated............

I have taken apart and put back together several CRK's without any problems.

What could be going on ?...................................

Sorry I can't post pics.

EDIT: I finally got my knife back together correctly:D

I didn't do anything differently this time any of the many other times than clean off the CRK grease from the scales and put

some grease on the side of the washers that are against the scales :confused::D:D

Doesn't make any sense..............

The problems that fix themselves are nice but can drive you crazy....nothing to learn....but glad it is back together and working right.

Whew, thank God......guessing it was some minute piece of something that was imbedded in the grease...maybe???

I've had the same thing happen with my 21, put it back a few times with it off center / rubbing and you try a few different times never doing anything different (cause your already doing it right) but then finally it works out. Its nice to have it back together but it leaves you wondering WTF was going on.

Could it have been the rotational position of the stop pin?

Edit to add: meant to say stop pin instead of pivot pin in my original post...c'est la vie...:)

Glad to hear everything turned out fine. Only thing that I can think to ask is how do you take the knife apart and assemble it?

Do you do "lego style" or as CRK recommends?
