Just had Coop shoot this one and he did very good. Thanks man!

A bit different, thick spine and very pointy. High layer damascus, with a lot of shimmer.
10.75" blade, 16" oal. A little S-guard goin on and fossil walrus ivory.

Thanks for lookin and let me know what y'all think.

I like that style of guard very much. I think guards that are too long really bother me so this has perfect proportions. The spine looks different from you. Is it more rounded then you usually make them? I don't totally dig the very pointy part of the blade where the swedge begins but thats just personal taste, and this is a very good looking knife!

Really large guards bother me also, Jon.

This one has a strange blade shape/clip thing goin on. I like it better in person than in the photo.

It is great to see the pro photo for detail and impression, however, a photo of a person holding the knife really puts the size and profile in perspective for me! Beautiful work!

The style impresses me as a classic for a fighting Bowie. And of course it was a well publicized conflict which was the Bowie's claim to fame, though the original knife would hardly resemble this beauty.

on the first picture in the Tony Thread, Don you sure have a pile of bowies forged out lying on the bench.

I do that so I don't have to forge much in the summer. Paying off big time this summer. :)

Handle is a little shorter - proportionately - than most of yours, and I like it very much!
Thanks Karl. Probably just looks that way, the handle is taller, top to bottom. Blade is wider too. Just a completely different look.

Thanks for the good words, folks!

Looks really cool ,would be a great one to clean ones fingernails with, or maybe clean frogs.

Oooooohhh... that's a beauty!

Nice materials. Very nice guard.

Kind regards,

Jos

This one could be called "The Stabber". Aggressive bowie! I like the different side to side look the ivory gives it.

What a treat having Tony in the house! Great stories and what a wealth of knife history he has. He was impressed with this bowie.

I think it's a really good thing for makers to occasionally mix it up with pieces that are a bit different from the majority of knives they make. And while the profile and proportions here are a bit of a departure, the piece is still identifiably a Hanson knife. Having been at this deal for a while, I find I am drawn to these "different" knives.

That explains it very well, Roger. Thanks!
