Damn there's that style again , I love it ! That is one mean looking , intimidating blade.
My only thought is , to lanyard hole or not ? I mean say one was using that for firewood purposes or clearing brush and one lost his/her grip , do you want it to fly off into the void , or do you want 12.5 inches of blade securely corded to the wrist , now out of grip.... Hmm...

My next question is (and pardon my noobishness :D) how do you shape your blades ? by crucible , does that mean your blades are 'molded' ? Sorry , I don't know much about this part , obviously :)

Lastly I think that would look spanking inside of a nicely dont leather sheath , no ?

This was all done in the shop cut by bandsaw, shaped on the grinder etc, etc

When i refer to crucible its the intent to let you know where the steel came from.

I do use Halpren Ti to waterjet once i settled into a design and do a cad file on it.

I thought long and hard on the lanyard, if you look at the cutting comp knife the lanyard hole is in the front so if a lanyard was needed one could just utilize the front hole.

Thanks

I'm a forged bowie kinda guy, but that is a some knife. I agree about the lanyard. Would make a great pig sticker.

That would be Crucible Metals. Formally of Colt Crucible metals Fame. Fantastic products. 154-CM , 154-CPM, SV-30, SV60, SV-90, 440-V. These are just some of Crucibles contributions to the knife world. They almost single handedly ushered cutlery steel into the modern age. Hey Spence!! Killer Blade Bro! Mike

SAR, That is truly beautiful. I consider myself pretty picky when it comes to big knives and I have to say I can't remember the last time a big knife made me stop and stare for so long. May I ask, is it for sale???

Having only ground knives for 18 month this is something you have to work into the time was right. It was sold long before i built it kinda funny i have a forum elsewhere and this guy would always say "nice knife but can you build it bigger, well i had enough. So i made this great cake for his cakehole and gave him a call well......he bought it.:)

Mike and keith thanks for the kind words

I will be placing these on my website and taking orders it will be a deposit type knife with some leeway on the finish date for right now.

zeph i received your e-mail and you where the first to inquire and you will be first jumper in the door if you like.

A few more pics for some drooly's

thanks
spencer

This pics summs it up pretty good on the right is the first hornet i made and posted up 12JAN06

Sweet looking knife

Awesome blade

Not quite sure of the handle design.....

To out of the box for you, sometimes things do not appear as it seems. It would be senseless to make something this nice and merry it up to a POS handle design. Well over 100 hornets are in circulation and i would say about 80% are pleased with the egronomics of the design the other 20% well nothing perfect and you cannot please eveyone. Thanks for the comments.

Come by my table at blade and check one out if you are going to be there.

I plann to make a cutting compition knife in cpm m4 cm and use it i just have to ensure that the ICCT will allow it.

First..... I was not implying in any way that this is a POS handle design. It would be difficult to make that statement not having handled the knife.

Second..... Not necessarily too out of the box me. Ergonomics are important and everyone has their opinion on what is best for them. I was simply stating that I am not sold on the design just by mere pictures.

Blade would be great if I am able to make it.

Happy Knife Making!

Thanks and i was not implying that you said it was a pos design just maybe an extreme way of looking at thing's i guess.Sorry i do get a bit defensive at times of this design.

It has been kinda a tough road with this design based on its overall looks, maybe when the production model hits the streets people can buy one and not be out whole lot of cash.
