While standing in line at Bass Pro Shops today I found this.

It came with a small file for use as a scraper, I think I'll just use a piece of hacksaw blade.

The Magic Striker works as well as the Light My Fire large military firesteel I already have.

I realize everyone doesn't have a Bass Pro nearby, but if you do, there it is.Patrick

Nice. I'll have to look and see if they have one of those at Cabela's. I actually use that exact same little China made lockback with my firesteel to start fires...i'm to over protective of my knives to actually use one for that :D .

I saw a guy at a gunshow in Orange county who made those big firestarters, and they were really priced well, like $8, up to $20 depending on size. Had the horn handles too.

I tried it out last night in the back yard with a piece of paper napkin for tinder, some kindling, and a very dry two inch "log" about 14 inches long. I was kinda' surprised how long it burned, didn't time it though.

The "horn" handle is actually plastic, that was very easy to cut with a hacksaw. I smoothed the edge left from sawing with a knife.
This is how it looks now.Patrick

Anyone find these online anywhere? I've seen the little ones, but a big one would be the kind...

Scoutgear.com has the large swedish firesteel (Light my Fire brand). That's where I got mine in the pic with both of the firesteels compared. It is 16.95 plus shipping.
My order was sent quickly, and ordering was easy.Patrick
