Large Fixed Blade Knife Storage Container?

So I have several large fixed blade knives, and I need a way to store them - a container really. I don't really have too many leather sheaths so right now I just keep them in their nylon or kydex, and I take them out from time to time and clean and apply rust protection.
This is not ideal

I have looked into pluck foam cases but they are extremely expensive, and do not provide enough room for the price. I was trying to find a deep one for vertical storage of the knives, but cannot seem to find one with 1 1/2 to 2 feet of inside depth.
I don't want to just set the knives down and have them clanking against each other in a box or crate or whatever, that is just a knife pile in a box, which is what I have now but instead I have them still in their sheaths.

I need a container, no storage on walls, or in large safes or anything, just a container, something simple that I can take out and grab the knife I want or take them out and clean them.

I have looked all over the internet and no luck so far, I cannot seem to find a storage container or method that would work for what I need. All the knife rolls and stuff are not large enough for a fixed blade knife. I have a few of such things for my pocket knives and what not, but I really need to upgrade my fixed blade storage.

How do you all store your fixed blades? Any advice for me?

Any cheap plastic box. Seperate the blades from each other with towels. Not super fancy but cheap.
I wouldn't trust a moving truck with it but if it's just to store them in your place totally sufficient.
Mine has 4 medium size boxes of dessicated in it to prevent condensation and rust.

Search for keywords knife and storage

(Those don't look like separate links but they are)

A long time ago my father gave me an idea to store my knives that at the time I did not give a lot of thought too but now I am looking it again, he suggested a red tool chest.

A US military surplus 81mm mortar can measures 14"w x 5.5"d x 22.5"h

You could make your own dividers out of wood, or foam, etc.

The cans are strong (steel), they have handles for carrying, and the lids have rubber seals to keep out air and moisture. They can be found for under $25.

Seriously? You need help figuring this out?
Seriously? Do you need to act like a jerk?

If you don't like the OP's question, or this thread, why not just ignore it. Why do you need to insult him.

Yep! I agree.

I have a ton of knives, and I still haven't found a cool way to store them. I've read many threads on this subject, and nothing appeals to me. I'm not too fond of my knives sitting in piles of frequently-carried, sometimes-carried, and never-carried.

The closest thing I've found to perfection is a Gerstner chest. The only problem is that the chests are large and rather expensive. I'm not sure where I'd put one besides in the shed with my other tool chests, and that scares me to have my knives so far out of reach! I want them in my living room or bedroom where I can quickly access them for... Uhh... educational purposes:D:rolleyes:

Get one of those under the bed plastic storage boxes, advertised for clothes, shoes, blankets, etc.
They open on either end, should be plenty of room to lay them side by side.

Look into the ridgid brand plastic tool boxes at home depot , they are pelican clones complete with sealing gasket for about 75% less than pelican cases cost . Thats what i use and i love em .

That is a cool idea, maybe look them up. Mine are in plastic tubs, but I would like a way to prevent them rubbing each other. The red tool chests I suggested maybe kind of expensive.
