Anyone know of a less pricey knife that looks like merxworx's chile? I don't think I am willing to pay $400 + for a knife but I love that blade style

What do you think of the Zero Tolerance 0100 ?
It has a black coating but is cheaper and uses a tougher steel than S30V.
Could be a winner in my book,
:)

Hmmm.... not sure. Mercworx's knives have a distinct look to them...

- I agree on the look of the blade

One option would be to contact someone and have them make a similar knife for you. Hell, Justin Gingrich of Ranger Knives ("RangerJD" on Knifeforum) could probably make one for a more reasonable price. Reference the two links below...

But, if you are just looking for a large blade there are some many options available depending on your taste, $$, and function/preference (note I own a few of these but lust over the rest!)...

Large recurve blades:
Ranger - RD9 (Justin can make a recurve version for you)
Fehrman - Extreme Judgment
Becker - Brute (if you can find one!)
TOPS - Armageddon
Entrek - Destroyer
ROS Arms - Baby

Other large blades that may interest you:
Busse - Fusion Battle Mistress
Chris Reeves - Jereboam Mk II
Fox - GOLOK Hitam Fighter
Wilson Tactical - Model 16 - Kukri
Wilson Tactical - Model 26 - Camp Knife
Ontario - Marine Raider Bowie
KA-BAR - Heavy Bowie

...and the list can keep going!!!

Those are some sweet knives, I wish I could get them all. Do the ranger RD-9 still come in the recurve design?

It is not the standard model, but you can request the recurve. Might add some cost.

The Fallkniven A2 is also impressive. I have an S1, great cutter!

Doesn't look like a Merxworx but I still recommend the Bark River Slither. A beautiful recurve fixed blade for only about $125, depending on the handle material. The picture is walnut burl. A2 steel, 5" blade, leather sheath. A real slicer. I think it looks better than the Merxworx but that's my opinion.

Some of Lucas Burnley knives may fit what your looking for.

I've contacted Justin at ranger knives to see if he can make a RD-9 the way I want it, hopefully. Thanks for the info guys:)

I contacted Matt Bailey of Bailey Knives and he made a knife that I had sketched out. Mine is smaller and less "fierce" than what you are looking for, but Matt can do recurve very well and his prices and craftsmanship are VERY nice!

Bailey custom ringed-recurve knife. I sketched and Matt made my dream look beautiful!

Bill Seigle can make you something for around the $250-$300 mark. I have a few recurves by him.

Also the TOPS Armageddon and D.A.R.T by Trace Rinaldi.

The Becker Brute if you can find one.

Mineral Mountain Pig Trail Bowies, large and small...

The Spyderco Hossoms, including the Forester, Forager, Woodlander and Dayhiker are all recurves with the same blade shape/profile/geometry but all with different lengths.

The grind on the Mercworx blades looks a lot like some of Walter Brend's grinds... but you will pay a lot more for a Brend...

Peace-
Cam

I just picked up this Bailey. Should arrive in the mail tomorrow. Justin at Ranger could do an awesome blade as well, I like his work.

Lately I've been tired of not finding exactly what I want. Instead of settling for a knife that is "close" or "sort of" what I want I've found a custom can be pretty reasonably priced. And it is "your" knife, not identical to everyone elses. Just my .02
