I'm thinking about picking up a new folder as EDC and want something meatier. I used to have a Microtech Lightfoot LCC that I loved but didn't want to ruin with carrying. Can anyone recommend a f@#k-off large folder for around $100? Would prefer drop or spear point, no serrations. I've looked around my favorite manufacturer's but I value (most of) your opinions, too.

Yes, I am considering a Griptilian ;)

How about a Kershaw Junkyard Dog II CB?

I love large folders:
ZT0200 (can find them for around $100)

Spyderco Military. (One on the exchange now for $110 I believe)

As far as big ones go, I'd probably look at the Rukus, or maybe one of the spyderco police knives

I got one of these, excellant big beefy knife and a bargain at the sale price. Beretta USA is having a sale right now with special incentives. Made in Italy by I believe Fox

That's not bad, hadn't considered it. I don't have any experience with 13C26, how is it?

Only the spine is 13C26, the cutting edge is D2, which is EXCELLENT.

I thoroughly recommend this knife.

Want big? Get a Benchmade LFK.

Has a 5.2" blade...

Or a Cold Steel Voyager, in 5" or even 6", for well under $100.

That sucker has a 6" blade, but it comes in 5" and less as well.

The top example below can cut people down to size. I guess you'd call it's 5.1+ inch blade serrated... naw, it's a folding saw - with a lockback. It was a <$10 buy at K-Mart years back. Actually, it and my Vic OHT below it are my total collection of 'serrated' knives.

Now, if that JYDII CB was just a little smaller than you wanted - and you could dig a bit deeper into your pockets, consider the recently discontinued Benchmade 610 Rukus, shown below with another variant of the JYDII:

That JYDII is the Ti/SG-2 variant - a bit hard to find now. The Rukus is a great knife - like a pocketable 'bushcraft' knife. The JYDII CB is no slouch, either.

I own these two as well, the JYD in composite/G10. The kershaw is an outstanding knife for the money, but not really big - just under 4" if I recall correctly. The D2 edge is just evil sharp.
The 610 is one of my top three folders, but it's very hard to get and quite expensive. Worth every penny, but there you go. It has the most beautiful blade of all my folders - just totally adore this knife.
