Are there any options for a 4" blade or longer folder with G10 scales (preferably with a flipper and/or assisted opening) with the blade shape of the Cold Steel Rajah and Spartan, or a drop point design for around $50. I like the Cold Steel Rajah and Spartan, but I do not like the scales.

Bad Blood Fire Spitter and Lansky Responder X9 are the only ones I can think of that fit your requirements. If you go to 3.6", there's the Kershaw Speed Bump, and if you forgo flipper, there's the Spyderco Resilience. Blade shapes are all pretty dissimilar from the Cold Steel ones you mention, though.

I have a Resilience, which checks in at 4.25", it carries pretty well for it's size and has a nice big FFG slicer blade on it. The G10 is medium grippiness, good enough but not pants ripping either. At $40 or so, not a big risk to give a try. Also, it is from a normal and reputable maker in a sector that is infected by tacticool theatrics (Cold Steel) and shady characters (Strider) and such.

The knife you are looking for is a Zero Tolerance 300.

If he were to pay Full Retail, the zt 0300 is about $300 out of his price range. Not a bad piece, but more than he is wanting to spend.

Hmmmm..... That's a tough one. I'd take a look at that Bad Blood that was mentioned. 4" blade w G10 though, around $50 - CS Recon1. Maybe a Kershaw Tremor? (Under $50/G10/flipper/AO/almost 4" blade)

Good suggestions thanks.

You're good because I have the Tremor and kind of described it. I wanted something like it that I wouldn't mind beating up, but similar with a different blade shape. I think the Bad Blood knife will fit the bill.

I have the Tremor as well and bought it from the South American jungle site for less than $20 delivered. I love it the knife and it has turned out to be a dandy work knife. I liked it enought to buy two more! It is inexpensive because the knife has been discontinued for some time.

I have the Bad Blood as well, but it is a brick of a knife. A fair slicer (unlike the Tremor which is great) it is a monster knife with a full 3/16" thick blade! Heavy and bulky, it is a kick, probably indestructible, but just too much for me.

Yea, I like the tremor more than some of my more expensive knifes. I like it so much that I don't want to mess it up now that it's discontinued and I can not get replacement parts. I figured I'd get something similar but different and still in production to replace it.

I probably should just buy another Tremor, but it's just not the same or exciting when having a knife you already own delivered vs getting something new to add to the collection.

All though they don't really match your blade style requirement, these folders are still quite awesome;

I hear you loud and clear! But the Tremor fits my needs as a work knife so well that I decided to really commit to it. Yes, the price has a lot to do with it, but I just tucked the two new ones in the closet and they will see light one at a time when I damage, break, wear out or lose one.

I have the normal collection of inexpensive work knives, a Tenacious (lousy work knife), Junkyard Dog II Combo steel, a RAT1 (great work knife), Schrade LB7, Kershaw Shallot, etc. Amazingly, I like that Tremor more than any of them! I don't take really expensive knives to the job site, but now carry the Tremor even when I am just goofing around.

Actually, right now KW has them for around $200 on special.

Yea ZT would be exactly what I want minus the price.[/QUOTE

KW has them on special but not in your price range at the moment.

You could always buy the Spartan or Rajah, then save your money have have it rehandled but Cuscadi.de

How about a CS Talwar or G10 Espada? They are big and open super fast (thanks to the "wave" thumb plate).
