I've got the Byrd and its a little too... Not so smooth. I have a waved Matriarch 2 that I like. I haven't been successful is finding a SpyderHawk or SuperHawk. I don't like the p'kal. Anyone know of any other nice mid priced Hawkbills? They say the Civilian is very delicate and I'd like something in the 3.5" + range to carry with the Matriarch 2 sometimes. I appreciate it

If you are open to the idea of a fixed blade you could contact some of the knife makers on the forum and have one made to your specifications.

Emerson super karambit? Spyderco Tasman Salt? Not sure what you call mid priced.

Spyderhawks come up for sale occasionally.

I tried fixed blade with pocket sheaths, but with my upcoming change in careers it will no longer be an option unfortunately.

It seems like karambits are becoming the new thing. Just not for me. I'm hoping to find a workable deal in the near future for a superhawk. Its a shame that the blade shape seems to have not caught on too well.
I was thinking $150 - $200 for new. They go fast on the secondary market

It's not large but you might wanna look into a karahawk...

Superhawks come up once in a while, and they are often cheap because demand is low. It took me a while to find the potential of hawkbills. I put my Superhawk up for sale a couple times at a low price and never had any interest. So I decided to give the hawk a little love, and now it's one of my favorite knives.

You might try posting a thread in the wanted-to-buy subforum. Not a lot of activity there, but sometimes you can get lucky.

I actually have a deal going on one now. Not cheap, but fair considering I think. I'm just waiting to recieve funds for a knife that some one claimed so that I can send payment. The Superhawk has fast become something I have coveted. Anymore pics of it in hand so I can get a better idea of proportion?

It seems like the Superhawk is what you want. If I were you, I'd just be on the look-out and not waste any money on compromises. (Edit: Nevermind, looks like you're on it.)
I gave my dad a Tasman Salt and it's a great Delica/Lil' Matriarch equivalent, although with H1. Quite a bit smaller than what you're looking for though.

On a side note, the Blackhawk Garra II also exists... absolutely no experience with it, and its quality is definitely not going to stand up to Spyderco but... yeah... it exists...

Edit: Here are some pictures that aren't mine, just from a quick google search, to answer your question about proportions.

AG Russell carries a Case folding hawkbill that's 4" closed and has a 3" blade, made in the USA.
Looking at them, they appear to be plenty of knife.

The demand seems to be going up considerably. One just sold on eBay for 269.95!

So, a little history behind this blade and the spyderhawk model. This is my very first spyderhawk and I still have it today. For some reason this model has been the most elusive spydy of my collection to date. I have had 4 of em and all but one has found an unfortunate demise. Whether it's forgetting to take it out on the way into the airport and having to toss it in the trash; having it stolen out my car, or just plain disappearing into the ether, these blades are hard to keep a hold of. If you find one jump on it. Good luck on the search. Hopefully this fuels your fire!!!

Now one went for 325 on eBay, so they seem to be gaining fast!

Hard to find a Spyderhawk now as it's a discontinued model but the Tasman Salt is still in production,

I'm going to pick up a Tasman salt for when we go fishing. I do like them. I must say I'm pretty happy with the Superhawk. It hasn't left my side since I got it. I'll keep my eyes open and hope Spyderco comes out with another Hawk in the coming years. I'll still keep my eyes peeled for a Spyderhawk
