Last week the German television network Pro7 filmed a bit for their sorta-science pre-Evening News show called "Galileo" in my workshop.
They wanted to do the piece about making a folding knife so I did a slight redesign of my large Ghost Dog folder and away we went.
The knife uses am 8mm turned and hardened pivot with M5 machine screws. The frame is 3.2mm natural finished 6Al4V titanium and the grip scales are heat colored grade 2 Ti.
The blade is 4.4mm Becut stainless.
It was a lot of "fun" being the "star" AND getting to set up the CNC mill for the camera with the crew running around, setting up lights and stuff usually I like peace and quiet when I'm checking whether the tool offsets are correct! But it all ran very smoothly and the piece should air on Pro7 before Christmas. The gal responsible for producing the show is doing her best to get the facts correct. Hopefully it will be pretty accurate.
I'll post a time when I know for sure, anyone getting German language TV should be able to see the show and I hope to put it up on my site afterwards.
