When it comes to slipjoints, to say I'm picky would be be an understatement. It seems that I can find very few that really pull me in, which is probably why I'm hope to start making my own in the near future.

In the meantime, I am being drawn to a couple of specific patters, one being a large stockman with a long pull main blade.

I'm familiar with the Camillus 301, the Schrade 881, and the old 80Ts, but I'm having difficulty finding any that aren't way overpriced or have been sharpened to death. Are there any other common models I'm missing?

I love the old Buck 301s, but I'm really after a carbon steel blade. Match striker pulls are a plus too. ;)

The old Imperial Frontiers are carbon steel, the master on the large stockman has a match striker pull. Sorry I can't post a pic,my machine will not cooperate. Do a big auction search and you'll find some. Still a decent price and a good old work knife.

Best regards

Robin

The Old Cutler line of knives by Colonial can be found with long matchstrike pulls. I have 4" jack knife and have seen photos of a similarly sized stockman with a long matchstrike pull on the main.

Ditto. The Northfield #81 is long-pull and it's a beauty.

In cream delrin, other types available.

Böker might be able to fill the bill too.

I think you can find an old Schrade for a decent price. Especially a decent 8OT. But those GEC Abilene in Copperhead bone sure do look nice.
