Large hunter or fighter with stag and damascus

I'm not sure what to call this as since the blade to me looks like a fighter but the guard looks like it belongs on a hunter. Anyways, I forged this blade out over a year ago but wasn't quit sure how to finish the handle so I let it sit until this past weekend. I just recently started using stag and have taken a liking to it. Now about the knife, the blade is 15n20/1080 random pattern damascus (about 350 layers). The guard and buttcap are 416 stainless and the handle itself is stag, of coarse. The blade is 7.5" and the overall length is 12.5". Now I have to figure out what kind of sheath to make. All that I have made up until now is pouch sheaths but I think this might be too large for that kind of sheath so if anyone has any suggestions let me know. Any comments or suggestions about the knife are appreciated as well.

Thanks for looking:)

With those dimensions, IMO you have crossed over what most would consider optimal length for a Hunter, but looks like it could be called a small fighter, bowie or camp knife at your choosing.

Looks to be very well executed with good fit/finish. I would definitely veer away from a pouch sheath in favor of a flat sheath with perhaps a strap over the single guard.

Whatever you call it, it's beautiful! Very nice damascus, VERY nice stag.

Kind regards,

Jos

I would say it is a bit large for a hunter, but it doesn't really need to be classified other than it being a nice knife. I like the stag, the damascus and the guard and spacer.

:eek:Wow!! That sure looks fantastic Rob!! Great lookin damascus, awesome stag. Great job:thumbup:

That looks to be a very nice knife in all regards. To me, it looks like a small bowie. Without holding it, I can only guess that it appears as though it might be a tad heavy to be called a fighter. Maybe that's just me though.

Definitely no pouch sheath for that one. A low riding (dropped) flat sheath is the way to go IMO. Great job overall!
