Recieved this when I purchased my Smith 500. Never used it, just to damn big for anything.

Get yourself a paid membership, for as low as $10 and then you can sell or trade it on these forums if you'd like.

nice knife and it does look quite hefty.

Yeah I got it free about a year ago when S@W was running a special. If you purchase the 500 Smith you could send in and get one serial # for free. Just thought I would share it, as I have never used it plus I dont plan on selling it.

Also I recieved my RS6 Predator knife about 2 days ago, does anyone have one?

The Smith & Wesson brand (on knives) is owned by Taylor Cutlery. They have their knives made in China.

Doesn't a serial number indicate that S&W intended it to be a "collector's" knife. It looks great for display.

The serial number was from his S&W 500 .50 caliber revolver. It's a kid-tested mother-approved handcannon.

Nice knife, Jeremill! Looks good as a display piece and I'm sure you could use it for yardwork/branch-clearing if the urge struck. Assuming it's your yard, of course.

I researched these a while back, when BIG 5* had them on sale here in the Bay Area. I figured it might make a better looking machete for yard use. They're okay knives (a little too large for carry or regular use). The blade is claimed to be 440C stainless, but I couldn't get Taylor Brands to actually confirm that; they'd only say it was a 440 "series" stainless. A friend of mine here who does ranch work got one really cheap, and abused it for awhile. The blade was thin for it's size, but it held up so-so. The main complaint came when the handle cracked, and the tang didn't look very strong.

thx - cpr

* BIG 5 Sporting Goods carries most of the S&W line of knives here, and most, if not all, go on sale at 50-75% off several times a year, especially Christmas time. Some of their knives are great deals (as users) when they're sold that low.

Same thing happened to my knife, the handle cracked and the knife does not look very sturdy because of the weak tang. The handle cracked promptly after recieving it, as previously mentioned; I have never used the knife just for display only with my 500, as someone else said kid-approved hand cannon.
With my last reply, I was wrong I did kill one wild boar in WV with it about 2 months after getting it and lets say it looked like a CSI crime scene.
