Large knife suggestions

Hey everyone!
I was wondering if I could get some suggestions as to which large knife would go best with my current setup.
It is as follows:
TOPS B.O.B
Esee Izula

I have been eyeing the RTAK ii, Buck Hoodlum, and Becker BK9. Any thoughts or suggestions on another knife in the >$125 range would be greatly appreciated!

Oh yes, the use of the knife would be to chop, and split wood, as well as a possible sword-esque defence blade, need be.

I also really like the sheath storage that the RTAK and Hoodlum offer.

I have the Ontario SP50. They are consistently rated by others to have quality heat treat, and my best 8.5 inch knife. I believe they are produced by a separate group than the rest. Might be the same for the Hoodlum series too. Buck would do well to drop whatever group is producing the Rat series, Rtak, and BlackBird....................

I have also decided to start actively bad mouthing Ontario any time I can. They need more bad reviews. I have a 60% failure rat among Ontario knives I have purchased. 3 out of 5 bad knives. I'm not talking about the design, I'm talking about production. Esee dropped them as soon as they could for a reason.

Very interesting! I've not really heard a whole lot of bad from Ontario, but I like to hear both sides of the story. I'll have to look into the sp50.

How about a TOPS Machete .230?
Big enough to do what you want, and the sheath has 2 decent sized storage pockets.

(It's the one in the middle, between a BRK&T Clax and an ESEE Junglas)

If you want to try a big blade that won't break the bank and will give you an idea of what you need/want......

Kabar heavy bowie. 9in flat ground and a great chopper that can slice, good comfy handle with retention pommel. It does not get talked about a lot but it is a seriously underrated knife. For about a third of the price of a junglas/tops.

Second option......BK 9 just about perfect for 30 or 40 more than the kabar

I could live with the BK out of what's been listed so far.

I have a few suggestions, but they are in the $200 range.

Scrapyard 1111 or 911 - super comfortable grip for chopping, but you have to add a sheath.

BRKT Canadian Camp Knife, Grasso Bolo I, II, III, Trailbuddy III, Golok

Stabman, thanks for recommending the TOPS machete!! I think that pretty much fits the bill!!! I'll update when I get it in

I was not a fan of big knives until I bought a Becker BK9. I still like/carry/use my smaller blades, but the 9 is a winner.

My Izula and Vic Spirit get supplemented by either a Condor Golok or Hudson Bay if I expect to do more than just make a small stick fire, but do not want to bring an axe or hatchet.

if you want to save some $ and get a serious chopper, try a parang from outdoor dynamics (not a plug...I dont know anywhere else that sells them) great chopper, but needs some minor edge work to really get sharp (they also come coated with a clear varnish to stop rust). The worst part to me is waiting for shipping from Malaysia and you have to make a sheath, which is pretty minor work (mines a super fancy cardboard and duct tape model :D) For under $30, you cant go wrong :)
