I've been digging the hell out of this style of knife for a while now, and each time I make them I try to improve on the design concept. This time I made two blades in this size, and this one in red stingray was the first to be polished out. Both have what I feel are the best hamon I've accomplished to date. Unfortunately, I can't catch the activity with a camera to save my life!!! I'll try and post a video, as that always seems to work better...
This knife is 3/16" 1095, with a 7.5" blade and both the blade and the handle are distally tapered. There's just a bit of sori, or upsweep to the blade, which adds a bit of drama and makes for a nice, smooth slicing motion. I've worked my tail off to shave away any mass that may add weight with no advantage in strength. Granted, this is the furthest thing from a prybar, but the speed and grace is amazing. It weighs less than most big folders.
I didn't take a shot of it, but the spine has been gently rounded - different for me. Less dramatic, but nice nonetheless.
Second one to follow soon - epoxy is currently curing.
Here's the video to show the activity in the hamon:

Thanks for looking, and please let me know what you think!
