Large Leek?

officially: no

unofficially: yes. it is known as the Shallot. Most people agree that it is a Leek on 'roids.

Hm, the shallot is, in my opinion (one that is based off of never handling either), a bit like a large leek.

The blade on the Shallot is, from what I see, just as big (if not .05" bigger) than the Griptilian's blade.

I hear that a lot but to me...the Leek is all about the blade shape. I would love the Shallot if they blade was ground like a Leek. Sadly I just don't like recurves.

A Grip is alot wider, but the Shallot rocks. Its thin and easy to carry.

I'd EDC a Shallot over a Grip anyday.

good point morrowj. to each his own.

as for the OP's question, not that i know of. The closest i would think out of Kershaw's lineup is the Cyclone in terms of size that you mentioned. As for a actual leek, no. it wouldnt be a leek if it was the same type of dementions as the Grip. just not the style of the knife.

Code:
            Griptilian Shallot
Blade 3.4 3.5 inches

Closed 4.62 4.65 inches

Wt 3.2 4.2 ounces

Bld thick 0.115 0.120 inches

Handle thick ??? 0.350 inches

So, a Tanto Leek isn't a Leek?

:D

ah...a good point. but i would still take a that blade shape over a recurve. :)

I still like the original Leek blade over the reverse tanto but must say, I've been carrying around the KS1660TSW and loving it.

ok..i see...thanks guys

I just got a shallot with CPM S110V blade. Way too sharp after touch up with Gerber diamond and gatco ceramic pocket sharpeners. It's too early to say this is my new favorite knife steel, but it does have a new mix of elements, including 9% vanadium, 2% cobalt, 3.5% niobium and %2.8 carbon. This is my first shallot with Leeks as my usual EDC. Like the Leek it fits my hand perfectly, but the blade doesn't have the same lightning snap opening as the Leek. The blade feels heavier, more substantial than a leek. I'll be testing this knife some more
