If you had a choice between a U.S.A. made Schrade 125OT & a Canal Street Cutlery 5 1/4" Single Blade Folding Hunter which one would you choose? Not for collecting reasons, but as a user.

Thanks - Pat.

Carbon steel V Stainless, unless there maybe late model 125OT's with Stainless blades which could be possible. Personally I have both the CSC and OT, although I would go for the 125OT with Carbon blades before the CSC, that's just me though.

For me it's a no-brainer. I had a Schrade for a while, and that big lock blade with the wide flat ground blade cut like an Opinel, and stayed that way for quite a while. I gave it to someone who admired it, and later fell down while trying to kick myself in the rear end. Great knife!

Carl.

U.S. Schrade. Canal Street makes a great one too, but I'm keeping the past alive with my old U.S. Schrades. ;)

Schrade 125ot all day long.

The USA models only, though. You can find them pretty easy. I got this one (25ot; no locking blade with an extra blade) in the other day. Was brand new in the box with papers. You can find good users with relative ease. IIRC, I paid about 20 dollars for my 125ot and aside from some slight blade play, is a solid user that sharpens up great.

If you like the extra blade, might want to take a look at the 225h from the open stock line. I have two: good user and one NIB (well, new in tube actually).

schrades are great but the king cutter is the bone handled old eye brand like the one blues showed some time back. i cut 3 in. oaks for an hour & it still shaved.

He means this non-locking 5 1/4" behemoth:

I have a single blade 125OT liner-lock from a member here, that I'm restoring. It'll be my son's one day - I feel better knowing he'll have a lock on a knife that size. I'm keeping the non-locking 25OT for me, selfish knife-knut that I am. ;)

Maybe I missed it, but did Schrade make a single blade liner-lock with that scale style? Either way, I've had a grand old time over the last couple of days, looking up this series by Schrade. I had a little serpentine Stockman (#896?) with a similar scale pattern, it was one of my giveaway knives when I hit 2k posts. I haven't seen this large type with those scales; as much as I like the Old Timer saw-cut style, Schrade sure did a nice job with the Delrin on that 225.

No, not that I know of. The 225h was the only folding bowie hunter in the open stock, bone looking Delrin.

Had they made one in the single blade locking flavor, I would sure like to have owned one.

That 225h in that pic is actually a Schrade Walden and is some of the best steel that I own. I bought it from a fellow member that I am friends with. I can get it absolutely mind boggling sharp. Hair whittling, tree topping sharp. I can get my 125ot nearly as sharp but not quite as keen as this one.

If it is a user .... I say go for the CSC. Why not help keep a US cutlery company in business with your purchase. They have great F&F and excellent customer service. I am really impressed with their newer offerings

I carried a 125OT in my pocket every hour of every day from around 6 years old throughout high school. That is one knife I would love to have now. I bet it's still at my folks' house somewhere but I can't find it.
If you can find an old carbon Schrade, I'd certainly get it.

Hardly bears repeating at this point, but the Schrade 125OT is what I would choose. A great knife, one of my favorites. I have 3, and another is on the way. Can't pass up a good deal on these it seems...
