hi all, i just wanted to ask a question about large lock backs. i really want a large classic looking knife(kinda like a buck 110) but bigger do you have any recommendation on what i should look at.

I'm posting here because i don't really know much about the knife companies that make these kind of knives and don't know what to look for in these knives.

Probably not going to find much like a Buck 110, but larger. Your going to have to settle for something close. I bought a Cold Steel Black Rhino on a close out sale a few years ago. Really nice large lockback with the Tri AD lock.

Cold Steel is one of the only companies that make some really BIG lockback knives. Their Tri Ad lock is possibly the strongest lock you can buy.

Cold Steel Talwar: I bought it about a month ago and was enjoying it greatly ever since!
Or Spyderco Endura: the last knife you will ever carry! :) Just kidding!

The Endura is a great one. Not a lockback, but I have rediscovered my cold steel pocket Bushman, and that is one inexpensive yet robust cutter.

The OP stated he wanted a "classic looking" knife, I doubt Spyderco and Cold Steel meet that requirement.

Maybe one of these? (not my pics)

Do an internet search for "Timber Rattler Scarab". It's a large, old-styled lock-back folder with an 8-1/4" blade. I CANNOT attest to it's quality as I've never handled one. Just pointing out a really large old-styled lock-back.

I've seen other really large lock-back folders, some were novelties, some were customs. Do a search for the knife featured in the third "Crocodile Dundee" movie. If I recall, that was a jumbo-sized lock-back. Perhaps there are replicas available.

Also, take a look at the Lone Star hunter and Makinack hunter from Cold Steel. Steel frame, triad lock, and a bit of old time charm.

thanks guy, i'm really liking the two suggestions from goosey, might have to check them out

Cold Steel Lone Star Hunter is slightly larger, but if you're looking for a knife that's both significantly larger AND has the "old style" look, your options are kinda slim, especially if you're wanting something good and not junky. Now, if you are just wanting a big, clip point, lockback knife, well, Cold Steel has a lot more options.

funny that. I was just about to post these. ... (my pics) but someone already beat me to the punch.

You won't find a lockback that feels more solid than A.G. Russell's designs. Only the Coldsteel lockbacks seem to be a match in my experience.

Pretty wallet friendly as well.
