Large Lum Chinese - opinions?

I've been looking at the large Lum Chinese w/G10 scales. I like the looks of the large leaf blade. My one reservation is the liner lock. Anyone have any opinions on this knife?

It's a user. I really like mine and the liner lock is solid. It's the best feeling of the Lum's in my hand by far. I wouldn't use it to baton through logs but then I don't think any folder should be used like that. That's fixed blade territory in my book.

Okay, enough clowning around. In my opinion, this is the Lum Chinese that Spyderco should have made first. It is a serious working tool. The G-10 has enough texture to eliminate the slippery feel of the anodized aluminum on the original, the larger size provides enough handle for a variety of grips and the extra leverage for cutting harder materials. If the original was a hit, this one deserves to be a bases loaded grand slam home run.

The Walker liner lock? It's fine with me, but I've always thought that if you need a lock, you're using the wrong tool. Stick with fixed blades.

I've been EDC'ing mine here lately and all's I can say is, WOW. This is how the Lum should have been originally released! Perfect. I plan to snag a couple more out of sheer terror that it will be disco'd due to SPyderco's fanatical fascination with smallish blade lengths. Try it for food prep. It'll displace your favorite kitchen knife in a hurry. It comes from the factory as tip up, which is very strange. Change it to tip down and don't look back. Spyderco perfection. This is a custom grade piece at a production price. Get 'em while they last. Cheers.

i own a few lum chinese folders (the small ones). the liner lock is solid and makes for a great edc.

The lock is rock solid and it is extremely comfortable to hold. It's also a very elegant-looking knife. You will definitely be pleased (and this is coming from a lefty whom the design is biased against).

Its a slicer for sure, nice thin flat ground blade slices like nothing else I've used.

I have a question. I prefer my detent a bit on the strong side and when I tried to adjust the pivot on my ZDP Lum, the blade went almost all the way over to the lock side (not rubbing, but just barely) and the action was still a lot... looser/smoother than I would prefer.

Can you wrist-flick the blade open etc pretty easily? Or does it require a full snap of the forearm like the Para 2?

I got the Lum and am very pleased. When it arrived my first impression was it's a BIG blade for a folder. Kind of strikes me as a folding "Nessmuk." The lock is very solid, blade is very sharp, and the G10 handle makes for an extremely comfortable and secure grip. This Lum should prove to be a first rate camp/utility knife.
