Large Lum Chinese?

I read on the Spyderco forum that a larger Lum Chinese is scheduled, with G10 and a bigger blade. Did anyone see this at Blade? Any changes besides the size and G10? Same lock? Same ergos? I've always wanted a Lum, but never went through with it. Any information is much appreciated. Thanks!

I only know that I'm all over both of them.

In all honesty My first thought upon announcement of the large Lum Chinese was "Well, it looks like my Lum Benchmade Dejavoo"

I was wrong...way wrong. All Bob Lum Designs - true. All good just different. These two are on the top of my most wanted list for this year.

I'm all over the large Lum. I wish it were a full 4" blade (looks around 3 5/8" to me), but at least it's not 3" like the original.

I'll take it!

Edit: Maybe 3 5/8" is too pessimistic, could be 3 3/4" (fingers crossed).

According to the catalog, blade length is 3 3/4" (cutting edge is 3 7/16").

Just when I know I've got more knives than I'll ever use along comes another spyderco that I've got to get. Thanks spyderco you've got my bank account on the critcal list.

I'm alittle disappointed that the Large Lum is only about 18% (approx 5/8") longer than the regular.

I think that the standard Lum Chinese is the perfect size for its design; scaled up. it just doesn't look quite right.

Agreed, it's getting a little annoying how many new Spyderco's I'm attracted to. At the bare minimum I'm anticipating the UKPK lightweight but I've also got my eye on the Carbon Fiber Lum and a few others. :D

As someone with big paws, and who loved the Chinese Lum but couldn't get a good grip on it, because of said big paws, I am going to get this one.

Sal, what about the big Terzuola and the big Native? ;)

Does anybody have ANY idea when the carbon fiber Lum is coming out?

The carbon fiber Lum came out about two weeks ago. You can see in the "Productions for sale by dealer" area where a few dealers mentioned having them for sale. The first run went pretty quick..........but they are out there.

I'm on preorder for 2 CF and one large myself and have been for a few months

There seems to be a Disturbance in the Force at Spyderco. Several knives that were supposed to be out earlier are still lingering. The economy i suppose.
The 3.75 Lum is a want on mine as well.

I was able to get my hands on a ZDP Lum Chinese since about two weeks after I started this thread. Hands down one of my favorite knives. Love the thin, light weight aspect, and really love the wonderful shape and lines.

Carbon fiber never really appeals to me over G10, and the titanium Lum just didn't get me excited enough to spend the money. But this large, open back G10 Lum is really making me interested.

I am waiting for one also. I have three Lum folders for now, ZDP version is in my pocket most of the time and I think it is a great edc. I don't care much about super grippy handles, just want a sharp scalpel in my pocket and this one is great. I have one CF version on the way and I really hope that large will be released in 2010 as they said. I see a big potential of adding some special-modified scales to them since they have scales attached to stainless liners.

I'm in the same boat as you. Love the knife, great cutter, it's just too small for me to get a good grip on. I've been waiting semi-impatiently for the large Lum, I pre-ordered one the day I found out about it, but now hope that it doesn't ship until after the new year.
