Maybe I missed it or maybe everyone is Lummed out :) but I didn't notice anything posted on this knife here- so I thought I'd take some pictures. A comparison and a close up, it's hard to see from a distance but man is that g-10 grippy for looking rather smooth.

As you can probably see, I've been carrying it. It fits my hand much better than the smaller Lum and is every bit the slicer that it's lil brother is. Just about the same thickness too, which surprised me. I might break out the calipers to confirm later on. Also, Spyderco has single-handedly made me a liner lock fan. They make 'em good for sure!

That does it. I'm calling New Graham Pharmacy. They'll hook me up with one of these beauties. Thanks muich for the sweet pics. :)

Nice looking knife thinks for the photos.
What do you think of the tiny pivot compaired to the 3 inch Lum? Wonder why they did that??

Hmm. A grippy Lum sounds quite intriguing. The problem I have always had with the Lum is that its "large in the front" and "skinny in the back" shape, coupled with slick scales and no thumb ramp or choil, make it want to shoot out of my my hand like a banana out of a banana peel. But the G10 would really help with that.

It's my pleasure. I don't think you'll be sorry at all.

I hadn't noticed that until I read your post. It got me wondering so I took it apart. :) The overall diameter of the pivot is definitely smaller, but the wall thickness is enough that I see this as being a non-issue. It would not surprise me if the smaller pivot on the large Lum is as stout as, or more stout than, that on the smaller Lum. But yeah, does seem kind of backwards.

I've read your posts in the past about loving the lines of this knife but finding that it just doesn't suit your hand. I'm in the same boat with the small Lum. As for this one, the size is much better for me and, I assume, any other L/XL glove wearers.

Regarding it being grippy, I don't want you to misunderstand me. It isn't extraordinarily grippy, just much more so than the alum handled Lums I've handled. Also more so than I thought on inspection prior to first use.

ETA: I forgot to mention that I did check the blade thickness on both knives. .118", or 3mm, on both. good stuff!

I wish the handles were green or blue aluminum. Or something else nice and non-pants tearing. I'd have bought one if they were.

Here's another one I took earlier but didn't include before. I suppose you could call this my EDC since I've been carrying them since they both arrived on the same day.

Awesome photos RE.

I`ve always been a fan of the Lum Chinese but couldn`t get on board with the aluminum scales. I really dig the smooth lines of the knife, and that big`ole leaf shape screams user.

Now with g10 scales AND a larger overall size, I`m jumpin in this boat.

i like the large one way better
i have the green and black one and it just sits in the box
its just too small and hard to hang on too

I picked up the Large Lum today. It is a very comfortable knife to hold, far more so than the smaller Lum. I'm very impressed with it.

I'm still trying to decide if I need this one, but I think I know how that will go in the coming months;) Just picked up a new Emerson though so that should keep me for a few days.
