I picked up an Old Timer Stockman at a pawn shop the other day for ten bucks.

It was corroded a little bit, but I rerally don't think it had ever been sharpened.

The sheepsfoot blade was bigger than usual and serrated.

Are these common?

They are less common than the unserrated version, but I don't think they are rare. I remember seeing them around when serrated blades got real popular back when Spyderco was first out. Check in the Schrade collector's forum, those guys can probably give you a definitive answer. It is a cool variation though. I picked up a Case medium stockman over the weekend for five bucks (had to clean it up and fix the sheepsfoot blade which had been damaged). Nothing better than finding a knife that just needs a little TLC as a bargin user.

An 89OT, I believe. You got a good deal.

They show up on eBay from time to time. Like the man said, they are not as common, but not extremely rare.

Congrats on the find.

Thanks, guys.

I bought it to use, and have sharpened and cleaned it up.

It is in excellent shape, really.

I try to never pass up an Old Timer in good shape when I find one worth the money.

Me to, even with the Schrade's closing, I find that "users" haven't gone up alot in price, I have picked up a few USA Schrade's, some like new, for great prices.

I believe they were produced as part of the Master Mechanic series. That particular one might have been tang stamped MM89. I've got one of those that was a second.

Do a search on the MM series on the schrade forum. I know of at least one thread...
