Large or Small Kabars?

Those who have Kabars, which size do you prefer? The 9 1/4" or 12"? Also I live in NJ and dont want to carry an illegal blade, should I go with the small one?
 
The full sized Ka-Bar has a 7" blade. I am not sure what the blade size is on the smaller one. If you want to stay legal I would check into NJ knife laws first. In some jurisdictions it is illegal to carry a fixed blade knife. This is just in general, I know nothing specific about NJ laws.

I would guess that if you want to avoid all trouble the smaller one would be the safer bet.
 
It's probably preferred to move to a state that doesn't have illegal laws. That's what I'm doing anyway.
