What do you prefer to carry, large or small? I carry both sizes, but usually have a small in my pocket and it suits me just fine. I prefer to carry a large Seb though. Just feels better in the hand.

SMF. :p

I&W I get a Seb it will be a large, though I might get a small to keep it company.

I carry a small regular way more than the large but I'd say the large is the better knife as its good for a wider range of tasks.

Can't bring myself to choose, so I carry both most of the time :o

LARGE!!!
The Large Seb sits so well in your pocket, you might as well go with more knife.

In my mind, the only real liability of the large is the potential for negative reaction from people who might see it as excessive, or as a weapon. Since that potential has proven itself to be low in my life, the Large's additional length of cutting edge outweighs it.

I can see where the Small would be more practical for someone who had small hands or small pockets. I'm medium in both respects, and the Large doesn't present a problem.

The mythological Medium Sebenza would probably be ideal for me as an EDC. I think people have correctly observed that Chris kind of hit above and below the sweet spot with his two sizes, but given that the idea was to have two sizes, they seem very well calculated. If there were only going to be one size, it would want to be between the two. If there were going to be three sizes, my guess is that the middle one would be the most popular.

Three sizes are much more interesting than two from the collecting standpoint, but I tend to look at the Umfaan as part of a trilogy in this pattern.

The small regular is perfect for me in all my tasks. most of my knives fall in that category and when I start going to larger knives I lean more towards fixed blades

Large regular, it's the perfect size for EDC. If I need something smaller I'll go with a slipjoint. If I need something bigger, I'll take my SMF.

I carry my large almost exclusively now.

They both feel the same clipped to my pocket so my thinking is may as well carry the large then.

I carry the small if I have to consider sheeple. Decorated small sebs seems to not scare sheeple as much.

I currently carry either a Large 21 or the Umnum. I have a small classic but I rather carry the large most days. I just received my first Large Regulars this week. I am going to EDC the Regular S30V for a bit and see how I like it.

I am hoping that the "Small Umnumzaan" that Chris Reeve talked about in an interview is the "mythological Medium Sebenza" that tsiloics mentioned. Ideal EDC blade length is as much as I can get away with in my office. My officemates tolerance for blade length seems to be just less than 3.5 inches (Yes I make them uncomfortable with the Umnum and the Large 21). I do not like going below 3 inches. So a CRK at 3.00 - 3.25 inches would be perfect IMO.

It basically boils down to personal preference. I have a small Sebbie-21 that EDC regularly, but I also have other folders both large and small that I can pick for whatever I'm doing for the day. Whether subconsciously or not, I tend to carry small folders like a Delica 4 or a Benchmade mini-Grip than their larger brothers if I'm just going to run to the store or something.

I never feel that a 3" blade or less is inadequate, and my small Sebbie is more than capable of doing the tasks I require it to do that a larger blade can do equally well.

However, I am saving up for a large Sebenza, so my taste in size may change....

The blade of the small is big enough for me, but the large fills my fat hand better. Therefore, I carry a large 21. I wish more companies would offer a smaller blade with a large handle. Just my opinion...

LOL. No way, man.

I have a complete set of all three mythological Sebenzas. They have 3/8" pivots, stop pins with bushings counter-bored into the slabs, INFI blades and Hinderer stops. They are, as we say in the business, "what it is".

The funny thing is that I never wished for "more knife" when using my small Sebenza but the more I carry/use my large 21 the more I think I prefer it. Time will tell if it'll stay in my pocket though - guess I'll just have to wait and see if I feel the same way after the "newness" wears off...

I think the small is as big a knife as I'll ever need on a whim. It's a great sized knife to carry and it's not too scary to people.

The Small is right in my mind.
The Large makes sense in my hand!

The 301 and Sebenza are very different in character. If you are seriously considering both of them, I think you should just get both.

The Sebenza isn't "better". It is much more refined, and it cuts better. It's also about half the weight of the 301. The 301 is a beast. If you want to beat on things and pry into things with a folder, and you want to do it for < $300, the 301 is the ticket.
