LARGE or SMALL

I'm about to buy a Sebenza and need a recommendation. I plan to use it for utility and carry it as a gentleman's knife. Is the large Sebenza too big for this role? IS a small sebenze too small for this task?

I've been looking at a couple decorated ones and ones with wood inlay.

Thanks,

Jason

Jason, if you are going dual purpose (work and dress) then the Small Sebenza is for you. I have found that it can handle almost any cutting chore at work, and slips into a suit coat pocket with ease. The Large is a bit too large for this role, but the small fits perfectly.

I also love the looks of this Small Decorated Larry at Knifeart has for sale. And there is an interesting one for sale over on the Exchange Forum.

Hope this helps.

I a large is good for utility use, but if you want something as a more dress up one, I also suggest the small. It's definitly bigger than the little brother Umfaan, so it'll be good for you. I carry a large all the time so I never see a problem with it being too big.

Large or Small? Yes

Seriously though, the small is one tough cookie. I have the Zulu trio and can trade off every other day and must admit that the small Sebenza is the most reached of the three. Very handy size, depends on how large a hand you have, I've heard others declare the small is too small for them, or the large is too small for them. Good luck on your search!

I just got an early Christmas present from my wife: a small, wood-inlay Sebenza! I can't think of a better "gentlemen's pocketknife," though I don't think I will be able to bring myself around to carry this gem. The knife and the wife, well, they are both "keepers!"

jki, you are a lucky man. My wife cannot take an emailed hint.

I will be getting a small one in the mail soon. I went to Paragon and checked the small and large versions out and bothe are great knives. But I already have 3 large tactical folders with which I rotate, so i don't really need another large folder. The small will be perfect for a utility/dress folder.

IMO, the small is too small, and the large, is too large.

How about a nice, happy med. Anne?

...wait, then I'd have to buy one of each...FORGET IT!

I vote for the small. Mine has always been more than enough knife for me in my urban enviroment.

I think the small would suit you perfectly. It's a good size and will do most any job handed to it.

I love my large model, but if you plan to carry it as a "gentleman's" knife, the small or the Umfaan would fit that bill better imho.

That said, I carry my large without the slightest carry discomfort or concern, but I work in an environment where carrying a good sized knife doesn't raise eyebrows.

No matter which you choose, you'll be glad you did.

I would go for the large, but then I have no use for smaller blades. Seriously consider what you will use it for and the environment you are in and then read over all previous posts, some good info there.
Either way good luck and happy cutting with your new "toy".

I carry the small everyday. haven't run into anything it couldn't handle. I like the other two, but I think the small is just perfect.

For me the correct answer to "Large or Small" is "Large and Small". If you find them as addictive as I do, you can just save yourself a lot of time and buy both now!

There must have been an error in the post--should read Large AND Small. The only question is which one you'll get FIRST! enjoy--I sure am
