I'm about to pull the trigger on a almost new condition plain large regular. The price is $425.
My question are is it worth the price?
Are they becoming so rare that the price is justified?
How does it feel? Opening?
I have small regular and to me I don't care for how difficult it is to open compared to my 21's. Should I wait until another comes around that may be cheaper? I've seen them a good bit cheaper but again they are becoming rare.

I'd take Large Regular's all day long over the 21. I don't like paying that much for them, but I have a time or two.:D

i like everything about the regulars better than the classic/21's.

if i didn't have one, i would probably pay that price for a bg42.

for an s30v i would look some more.

Similar to MORIMOTOM, I might pay that for a large Regular BG42 but not for a large Regular S30V. The S30V ones come up for sale too often to pay that much...I'd rather wait for a well-used one to pop up on the exchange.

I would look around, 425.00 is a little high, if the blade is a bg42, I might consider. I think the 21 is smoother, I do like the regular because I have big hands and its easier to engage the lock.

I'm holding off. Part of the deal was going to be a partial trade. Some $$$ plus my Paramilitary2 CF/S90V for the Sebenza. I have been collecting as many of Spyderco's CF knives for a while now and I really would hate to start breaking up my collection. Especially if the Sebenza is over priced, which I knew it was.

$425 for bg42 is ok. but I would not pay that much for S30V. I caved in and paid $350 for S30V sometime back, although it was not double thumb lugs. Normally when I am looking for it, I can't find it...and when I'm not looking, it pops up.

Regardless, I'd take a large regular over classic or 21 anytime.

that is a rip off, I had a person offer me one in excellent condition for 400.00 and I have another one offer me one for 300.00, I would just send in and make it look new again. these offers are without a trade on top. your making a good choice.

I've seen large Regular Sebenza's go for $325.00 to $400.00. They don't seem to be that rare, especially the S30V versions.

I don't think it's a ripoff price. Someday you may wish you bought this baby. Everything is relative. They will get harder to find.

I received a small Classic as a gift several years ago and would never part with it, but if I were to ever spend that kind of money for myself, I'd have picked the large Regular. The large Sebenza fits my hands much better than the small and I love the aesthetics of the older knives.

I am not up on the prices, but prefer the large (and small) regular over the 21s. The butt of the 21 handle has a point on it and is not as comfortable to me as the regular model.

$425 seems high in my opinion.

I paid $325 for a well used one with s30v, which I felt was sorta of high given the condition, but they are getting harder to find.
I like the Regular a lot, but not more than the 21.

The jimping on my Regular is sharper so better for grip.
It is also easier to open then my 21 [at least for me].

Overall I like the looks and overall fit of the 21 in the hand.
BUT given all that I've stated I still have my Lg Regular and it still sees carry/use.

As they are discontinued, secondary market prices for regular Sebenzas have been increasing steadily over the last year or so. I would imagine that you're going to pay near the current price of a new 21 for a older mint Regular. More for something special, like BG42 steel or double lugs or other upgrades.
