Large Sebenza Annual for EDC?

I have always loved the appearance of the Sebenza annual special editions, and am currently lusting over a 2009 with Thuya inlays. I am not the type of guy who believes in "safe queens" with knives or guns, and would likely EDC the Sebenza if I buy it.

Do the Annuals stand up to EDC as well as other Sebenzas, or would I be better off just getting a Classic?

A Large Annual would make a perfect EDC. The Annual Sebenzas are still Sebenzas so there would be no performance difference between them and the Classics. If you like the Thuya Burl, I hope you're able to land one...and EDC it!

I don't see why they wouldn't stand up to EDC use. CRK's do not build crap but build solid knives that should be used everyday.

What makes you think that they would not?

The only thing that gives me pause is the size of the scale on the front side. I had a Classic (until it was stolen:mad:) and the smaller scales seemed more protected than the one on the annual looks.

Well, if you're worried about the knife getting scratched then I suggest you get a plain jane Seb. An EDC is going to show signs of use no matter how much you try to protect it, that's basically the result of being an EDC.

As far as I'm aware, Chris designs each and every one of his knives for use.

I've been looking at the LE Sebenzas for quite some time, and even though my money has been going towards customs as of late, I will most certainly use an LE Sebbie when I eventually pick one up.

ABSOLUTELY! In a series of unusual circumstances and odd events, and with the help of some fellow forumites here, I recently traded/sold out of a Classic Inlay EDC for one with more historical significance with me (2003 being the birthyear of my youngest son). They make a great carry, plus I still maintain that the Annuals get a little extra lovin' at the CR shop before they ship out making them even better than great!

Why spend the money if you don't intend to use it. I appreciate my knives everytime I take them out to use them. EDC does not necessarily mean ED abuse. CRK are meant to be used not stored:cool:
