I'm sure this topic has been beat to death, but I'm having trouble with the search feature so here it is again. Would you pick the standard large Sebenza or the classic? Please let me know what influenced your choice.

I've had both syles in both sizes and overall I prefer the classic. Obviously the big difference is in the lock release area. I prefer the larger cutout of the classic design. Also a more subtle difference is the blade shape and handle shape. The classic is a little pointier in the blade and the back of the handle dips slightly in the middle vs. the regular where it raises slightly in the middle.

Honestly both are great and I don't think you can make a bad chioce. I currently own a small regular and a large classic. I like the classic style only very slightly more and I really like having an example of both in my collection.

I prefer regular over classic slightly, drop point blade seems more utility friendly to me.

But yeah, they're both great

Actually, I prefer the regular blade shape and the classic handle. Too bad it's not possible to get them together, but that's the way it goes.

Anyway, given the regular's fuller belly, I find myself using it more for everyday kinds of tasks. I use the classic for hiking and camping, where I find the pointier (and slightly longer) blade more useful.

My vote goes for classic. I'm carrying a small classic right now.

I bought a Classic because that was all that was available at the time. I don't think you can go wrong with either version!

Well, I personally like classic better. It's just little diffrence in design - classic is more nice and kinda arty! The sound of clicking when lock engages is diffrent too. All in all both versions are great. YOU choose which is better suited for you.

I like the classic blade and the regular handle. The classic handle's lock/finger indent is right where I put my finger so with nothing there is seems less stable.

Man, I just hate having to agree with this guy! :p :D

I own only a large regular for the last two years and love it. It's my EDC, but since then I have handled the large (and small) Classic and feel it's a bit more comfortable than the regular. Not that there is a difference in the extreme high quality. Just tactile preference, I guess.

Anyway, it'll be a while before I can get a Classic Seb, so I'm happy with the performance of my regular. The best bet is if possible to handle and inspect both to find your preference. You may end up getting both anyway! :)

is my edc, although I opened up the lock cutout area closer to the classic and drilled holes on the handles. The drop point blade made my decision as I had hoped for a classic handle and regular blade and CRK said no!

I like both... however, the large I carry is regular model. Just like this blade shape :)

Maybe you guys should start a blade/handle swapping thread to get all the requisite pieces for your ideal sebenza. Somehow I don't think Chris would approve though... He strikes me as an artist that is very specific about the way his work is treated.

Unfortunately, the regular blade won't fit the classic handle, and vice versa. The best you could do would be to enlarge the thumbstud cut-out and grind the scallops off the regular handle.
