Hi-

Haven't really used the Forum before, so I have no idea how to post an image, though I guess I need a gold membership to do it?? My question has to do with the Sebenza "P" numbering system. I have a "P" Sebenza and for the life of me cannot find a number on it. Does it make a difference that it has custom 18K gold and black, gold lip and regular MOP inlays embedded, work that Chris did? Thanks, appreciate the help!!

I forgot one other element of the knife that could be the reason for no number on my "P" Sebenza - it has a factory AJ Hubbard stainless damascus blade. Anne said it was a one of a kind, so is this the reason it has no number? HELP!!

They dropped the numbering system after a while on the "P" Sebenzas, most don't have one. I am dying to see a picture of your knife, email it to me and I'll post it here for you.

You better just send the knife to me, it's probably a cheap knock off! :D

Let's see some pics!

ChewedDude,

Welcome to the forum,
If I recall correctly, the first 300 "P" folders were numbered.

I can't wait to see the pictures, sounds like a real beauty!

CRK did use AJ Hubbard damascus on their decorated Knifemakers guild 25th anniversary Sebenza back in 1995 (I have #18 of 25).

Anne Reeve told me that a small handful of AJ Hubbard blades were used in the very early P days. She told me about the 25 used for the special run, but "a handful" were used on P knives. She and Chris saw my images of this knife and Chris remembered doing the inlays. They are four, different sized flush circles of black lip, gold lip and MOP each circled/surrounded by 18k inlay. He said it was the only one he ever did with four circle flush inlays. Anne told me that probably not more than 250 or 300 P knives were made at all, so my mystery about this one having no number continues. Where is the number located?

As far as images, I have some but have no idea how to post them, so if someone can tell me, I will be happy to. It really is a beauty.

I sent some images to StJames who has graciously offered to post them, so they should be around soon. Let me know what you think.

While I wait for any answers anyone may have, I just want to say that Anne Reeve goes out of her way to help. I had so many questions on this knife, and she took her time to treat me like a next door neighbor. I am going to take it to Solvang and ask Chris Reeve some of these numbering questions too, I think.

Here we go, Very nice piece and quite unique.

BTW, the number would be just to the right of the "P", I'll post a picture of my own soon.

James. thanks much for posting the images, really appreciate it. And thanks for letting me know where the number would have been, if there were one. And thanks for the comments on the knife. Yeah, I think it's a beauty myself.
