Large Sebenza vs. Umnumzaan vs. Zt 561

I work in an office environment and carry a Mnandi during the week. I want something heavier duty for the weekend because I can:D I don't usually have that many cutting chores but want a larger nice knife. Which of these would you go with?

I would go with the Umnum. I have both a large regular and a umnumm. I love them both but I find the umnum to be a better slicer and it also has a sweet swedge for better penetrating. It has a slightly larger blade and handle and is just a pleasure to hold in the hand. I'm not saying the Sebenza is not an amazing knife, it is and I do carrying it from time to time just to switch things up. There is one thing I like better about the Sebenza and thats that sweet Click when opening the knife and the sound of the blade when you close it just screams quality, you lose that with the Umnum due to the rubber o-rings on the blade stop. Honestly, either will more than satisfy you. In time you will have both anyway. Sorry, I have never handled a ZT blade so I have no place to make an judgement with it but I would bet it is an outstanding knife as well.

All three! :D

I havent handled the 560/1 yet, but it looks like a sweet knife. I'd say that the Umnum is a safe choice! Although the Seb has never let me down..

Yeah, get all three.

I have them all...and typically carry 2 of the 3 together. I love my 0560/61 and if you like KVT style knives make a 560/61 your first choice. Between the CRK choices I lean lean towards my Umnumzaan, once in my hand I just can't put it down. I'm probably not much help to you here, sorry. IF money is not an object, the Umnumzaan can't be beat. (imo) If you're trying not to go nuts spending money, the ZT is a substantial bang for the buck contender. The weight is about the same for both knives, but I've noticed my Umnumzaan carries slightly easier/less footprint in the pocket.

ZT, more knife, less money.

^^^^^^^^^ this. The fact that the ZT 0560/0561 is even in the conversation should tell you all you need to know. I liked my 0560 so much I bought a second as a back up.

Elmax steel, 3D machined titanium frame lock, 4-way carry, etc. All with the added bonus of KVT, for well over a c-note less.

PLUS you can actually use the knife, for more then just a letter opener without the owner claiming abuse and calling you an asswipe:D

Kershaw/ZT CS is second to NONE

Yes.:D

Different strokes for different folks...whatever...I own them all so it's no skin off of my knuckles...BTW not ALL CRK owners claim abuse/asswipe if you actually use the knife...I use the hell outta mine and I dare someone to call me out on it. If I can't use it...then I sell it...no safe queens/kings here! :D

I was actually referring to Chris Reeve himself. Glad to hear you're a user though, I don't believe in safe queens either:thumbup:

aaaahhhhhh...I see...said the blind man as he picked up his hammer and saw...:D (my mistake...I wasn't judging...cuz I know some CRK owners that do just that)
Its all good...

Well, I would say if you just want a harduse weekender, go with the ZT. The CRK's are going to be smoother around the edges and easier on your bare hands, which makes them better as a harduse edc. The ZT has tons of grip, works great with gloves, and will take the abuse in stride. Not that the CRK's won't, but with the ZT, there's no regrets. You don't feel like you're beating on a fancy highdollar knife. 2 cents

i just received my zt0561...awesome knife all around.
but...a bit too large and scary looking for me to use in public....

monday i should receive my small sebenza carbon fiber...that should be a bit more friendly for the sheeple to see.

I would go with either the sebenza or the UM. ZT makes some great knives, but it just not the same. The sebenza is kind of THE folder in the knife world. I would really consider giving it a try just so that you know what has made knife nuts fall in love with it. Since you already own a CR knife, you already know just how insanely good the quality is and just how nice they are. If you want a slightly more overbuilt knife then i guess i would go with the UM, but i really think that every knife lover should own a sebenza at least one in their life.

I have had all three, currently own two of them. My vote goes to the ZT, then the large 21, then the umnun. Umnum could compete for first if it wasn't so uncomfortable to unlock (for me at least).

The 0560 is almost my ideal knife. The Umnumzaan has many features I like, and it has that cool name, but the 0560 is really close.
Edit: I just did some measurements on some pictures (I really wish everyone would list edge length like Spyderco does), the 0560 is so close to being my perfect EDC (can someone tell me what the edge length on theirs is?). I just need a super high end run to justify getting one.

I have the ZT 561 but have handled the other 2, i say ZT because of all the things you can try out with it (KVT, flipper, Elmax, etc) Although the other two will be better slicers with their thinner grinds and blade stock, I really like the looks of the Umnumzaan though too and cool blade shape, if they did a special steel run in the Umnum I would buy one in a heart beat, or at least ran their standard steel a little harder.

I have an S35vn Zaan and a ZT0560. The 0560 is the better knife IMO due to the blade steel and price. The CRK is built with tighter tolerances but the steel just plain sucks. If you could find and s30v Zaan then that would get my vote for first place.
