I've been reading alot about the sebenza and looking at alot of pictures - Im close to ordering, but I have never actually held a large sebenza - Im wondering how big this thing really is. For example - I was pretty set on buying an endura after reading alot about the knife and looking at pics - however when I got to the store the thing looked like a sword! Seriously - it was a little too big for what I feel like carrying everyday. Is the large sebenza smaller than the endura - and if possible could somebody provide a side by side jpg. of these two knives ???

Thanks for any help my friends!

ps. Im currently carrying a calypso jr. and I really like the size - however I certainly wouldn't want to go any smaller. Anybody know how the sebenza sizes up next to this knife?

A large sebenza will be similar in length to an endura, but probably appear more massive.

I would suggest you consider the small sebenza.

If the Endura felt big to you, I would go with a small Seb. It's not really that small, many people say they carry theirs as an EDC. I carry a Camillus EDC, which is similar in size and it works very well for me.

I just ordered another large Sebbie and I think that the large version is the perfect size for an EDC. The handle fits a larger hand very nice and 3.5" is the ideal size, IMHO.

i carry a large classic sebenza and i don't think it is too big but the first time I saw it I thought it was huge! I looks much better then a standard 3.5" knife. Most of my knives are 3.5 are so but the sebenza looked much bigger then that for some reason. If you think the endura is big I think you should get the small sebenza if you go on the chris reeve forum i'm pretty sure you can easily find a comparison picture of the large and small

In my brief experience with a Large Classic Sebenza, I found that its slim, flat profile allowed it to ride quite nicely in my pocket. I eventually sold it because, even though I'm not a big guy like FivePoint, I found the knife a little too small for me (I'm 5'8" and 150 lbs).

My advice: buy the large one, it will soon "shrink" after you carry it for a while. Of course, you have to take into account that the smallest knife in my EDC rotation, a MT LCC, is larger than a large Sebenza.

The large Sebenza is a big working knife. For daily carry you are probably better off with a small Sebenza, especially if you are less comfortable with any big knife.

I have large and small Sebenzas, but when I got the small I stopped carrying the large regularly. I also carry a Darrel Ralph EDC sometimes, which is the same size as a small Sebenza, as well as the similarly sized Mnandi, Ka-Bar Thorn, and MicroTech Kestral.

I have a fairly wide hand, but all of these "small" knives have about a 3" blade and 4" handle, and they are all tough and sharp. Also I find that a knife whose handle doesn't protrude from your fist doesn't look so big to non-knife people.

Of course, in warm weather, I carry less heavy gear :) Ask me in the winter, and I may be carrying a few bigger knives again!

I'm not sure why the large Sebbie "looks" so big. Maybe it's the matte finish. :)

While it looks "big". . .it really isn't that menacing !

I've had my share of both large and small. But always felt that the small Sebbie was too small.

My suggestion. . .go back to the store and handle it some more. If they have a small available. . .make some comparisons. If they don't have a small. . .ask them if and when they plan on getting one.

I say ~ go with a large.

Large or small. . .you won't regret it. :D

Good to hear, I'm 6'4" and just ordered a large. After many tries I find the small sizes of most knives too dinky. Three inch blade and under is like a penknife to me, and that doesn't count as "carrying" in my book. So far the smallest knife that has felt right to me is the Griptilian.

So I am hoping the Sebenza will meet my needs. Unfortunately, my physical need for a larger knife may not sit well with smaller sheeple. But I'm starting think that since I live in a world where everyone is being accomodated according to race, disability, lifestyle choice, etc. perhaps it's time for people to start accomodating me as well. ;)
