Large Selkirk Folder!

Finally got my hands on one. I like the size, nice heavy duty folder. I'm not sold yet on the sheath system. I held it upside down several times and while it does take several swings to get the knife to come out, it does happen. There is a screw to adjust the tension, but I could still make the knife fall out. Also, switching it to left hand use, was way worse than the fixed blade Selkirk sheath. I wish Buck would have gone with a traditional "flap over" leather sheath with a firesteel loop. Also, there are 7 screws on the sheath, which makes me think you are going to need to carry a screwdriver for maintenance.

I score the knife high, solid lockup, razor sharp, good size handle, blade spine strikes sparks great from the firesteel, once you get some of the black coating off.

Southpaw setup.

Jury is still out on the sheath, time will tell.

Will try to get some shots with all 3 Selkirks together for comparison, soon as I can find the small folder, not sure where I left it. :)

Had potential, to be honest, the more I mess around with it, the less I'm liking this sheath. I just don't think I'd trust it, moving around rough wooded terrain, or around water. Seems like a good way to lose your knife.

I like the size and design, but not the sheath system. If one wants to add a pocket clip, does it have a closed detent like a usual liner lock?

That is a nice looking knife and rig. My issue has been that it is made in China. Taiwan would be okay. But, I am sure it is a nice knife overall and it sure does look good.

I just received the small Selkirk folder.
Very nicely made. Solid lockup, smooth and built like a tank.
Clip allows for a pretty deep pocket carry.
I really like the Micarta handle.
I can see the large one in my future.
Thanks for this thread.
