Is it possible to shrink a leather sheath?

I purchased a knife that came with a sheath that must have been made for the entire series of the knife with no regard given to the thickness of the handle. I have one with a lacewood handle and that fits perfectly, my other one with thin G10 scales falls out of the sheath so you see my problem. Any help is appreciated.

I've never tried it, but would hot water/steam work? I think that it would shrink the leather, but I don't know if it would be consistent, i.e. it might get warped.

You said the G10 falls out, but how much space is there? Is it just loose, or are you talking about 1/4''?

It's loose. If I hold the bottom of the sheath and turn it upside down the knif will easily fall out.

I'm at the point that I am thinking of just getting a new sheath made by one of the artisans on the forum here.

Thanks.

Steaming or hot water will not shrink a sheath. If anything it will make it worse. Even if there was a way to shrink the sheath it would not be enough to make a difference. You can try getting a piece of 2-3 oz. leather and lining the inner rim of the sheath. This will make it tighter in the inside. Or....I can make one for you.
