I think I’d like a large Tanto blade folder. Any recommendations? Something in the 3.5 to 5 inch blade range preferably under $150.

Yep, Cold Steel is where it's at for this request! :)

I've owned every CS tanto folder (I think), and with one exception they've all been excellent. The XL Voyager is great if you want something ludicrously large but also functional. If I were picking one for EDC, I'd definitely go with the Code 4; it's so slim that it's incredibly easy to pocket. For what I tend to think of as large (4" blade), the Recon 1 is a great option.

The lone exception was the Air Lite, because I don't like the way that one is constructed. But lots of folks love them and have had no issues with them.

I do like my clip point large CS Voyager. I’m carrying it today in fact.

How about the larger Columbia Rover folders? Any experience with them?

I have one of these and I love it as a work knife. D2, G10 scales, easy to open/close with one hand. About $50.

Been using it on the job site now for about 3 years and it has been great. I used the Tonto edge as a wood chisel, a light scraper and it's heavy enough to use as a light wedge to separate things. The D2 has been remarkably rust free.

I have some pretty big paws, so the Recon One, the Code Four and others with smaller handles were really uncomfortable. But the king of my Tanto bladed work knives is my CS SR1. It's a handful of knife and you've got the feeling you couldn't break it.

CS makes a "Lite" version of the SR1 Tanto, it's a nice knife at a very reasonable price. You might look into that.

this is one of two tanto biades i own, is the only one i actually use. it’s on the lower end of what you inquired about size wise at 3.7” but is an awesome knife anyways. i always wanted a bm stryker, picked it up on the bay for $160 a couple months ago C49ED1D1-BE49-4477-907A-3003B13C899D.jpeg

Get a Cold Steel with a Tri-ad lock . Many to choose from !:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Look into the cold steel AD-10 tanto. It is GSM mine locks tight, even lines, smooth action and lock, unreal sharp out of the box. I love the AD-10 and wanted a new knife so decided to give it a shot. The tanto tip is also unique and seems exaggerated in a good way. Great for EDC. I often use and carry the xl voyager 5.5 inch blade out working in the woods and fields. So it may depend on what you will be using it for. Good hunting

Like you I like big tanto blades. In addition to the General, I own a Utilitac II Tanto. By far the most knife for the money in my small collection. That knife is a wonder, and barely $30. Unbelievable. Getting hard to find, I was lucky to buy the last one on Amazon, not sure if there are more for sale now.

Agreed, but just need to be careful with the whole GSM thing.
If they start making them in places other than Taiwan, or if we hear reports of a downturn in quality, I'd agree. But neither has happened so far to my knowledge.

One of the best Benchmade’s ever imo. Had one in 98 - same as the one pictured. Replaced it with a few of the later models, not the same. This was a great knife.

**Put Loctite on the thumb disc screw ! 👍

No, but alarming reports concerning customer service and warranty. So far I've bought 2 GSM-era knives...Mini Recon and SilverEye, and luckily both have been great.
