Here is my second attempt at a japanese style blade.
This one is quite a bit bigger at 15.25", it is shaped like a large kwaiken I suppose, but I am going with tanto based on its size.
It was polished to 2500 grit, and etched.
The blade has a very nice whispy hamon, that I stink at capturing in a photo.
The handle is black sting ray, with a reverse tsuka ito and a copper menuki that carries my makers mark.
The blade is 10", with a 5.25" handle.

That looks awesome. Sanding it must have sucked. How long did it take to get to 2500 grit?

Tanto is always a nice edge. I love them for bushcraft as you can carve and dig with them. Not that you would do that with your fine creation.

Thanks a ton guys!
I replied to your email fz1boxer.

I am glad you like it. You have the first and second one of that style from me, and I plan on doing a lot more!
Enjoy!!

Very nice looking blade. I am curious did you step the handle down a little on top and bottom or is the profile straight thru.

FZ u got a really nice one.

The profile goes straight through. The tang is tapered in width and thickness, for balance and feel.
Thanks!
