large Texas Toothpick

Schatt & Morgan File & Wire in ATS-34 would be my choice.

Some dealers may still have them, and they do show up pretty regularly on ebay.

Otherwise, you're pretty much looking at Case or Queen.
Of those two, the fit and finish on the Case will probably be better, while the
blade steel on the Queen will probably be better.

But you'll probably have to sharpen the Queen, they don't come real sharp right out of the box. The Case will probably be reasonably sharp out of the box.

Between the two, I'd go with the Queen.

As far as I know, neither the Case or Queen large toothpick has a blade over 5" (at least mine don't). My Queen in D2 is right at 4", my Case large toothpicks are both around 4 1/2", which is over legal length here. I don't know of any production toothpicks the size you want. Sorry :(

Yablowintz is correct. Case re-introed their 5" handle, ~4" blade toothpick in the past year. My case is about 4" of edge, but with the tang it's longer. It's a nice knife. The queens are nice too, but IMHO, the 2000 S&M large toothpick is the best. Bulldog sells some big ones, but not too much over 4" but the fit and finish was a bit spotty. Bear has some new toothpicks, but I haven't seen em yet.

If memory serves he calls it something like GRANDPA'S HUNTING KNIFE. It has a sleek blade made of 154CM, a blade that uses the entire length of the frame of the knife.
I cannot lay hands upon mine as we speak...it is probably in one of my hunting coats or my ranch coat.
The stock number on it's old box is RUS-AGC8B
I am dead serious when I say this is the finest big toothpick I have ever seen.

Legal Length? In Kansas? Really?

I don't recall the year, perhaps the same 2000, of my S&M. 4" ATS-34 blade, very sharp out of the box, and sharper since I've been using it and keep the edge thin. Massive bolster and cap, red worm-groove bone, beautiful knife.

I assumed - (know I shouldn't do that...;)) - that the OP was referring to the classic "five inch" toothpick, which is, of course, five inches in the closed position.

I have a couple of these great knives; and I've also forgotten what A.G. called them. They're not in the current catalog, that's why I didn't mention them.

As you say, they were a full five inches closed, available with either stag or bone handle scales. Flat ground blade of 154CM. Made in the USA.
And the price was very reasonable, too.

Along with the Schatt & Morgan in ATS-34, I think it's probably the best production toothpick around from the past few years.
And they are both out of production.

The A.G.Russell's were interesting. He got hold of some old handles, and designed a folding bowie blade for them. When he ran out of the old handles, he put that blade in Texas toothpick handles. I liked the ones in the original handles. I wish I bought one. But they are gone. Can't even find pictures anywhere. :(

Here's a thread from last year: A.G. Russell's Grandad's Lockback and Grandad's Toothpick

You might wish to try a Rough Rider large Toothpick. Price is right, and similarly sized Rough Riders I have are really pretty good.

I wanted one of the AGRs but when I looked at some toothpicks at his store, they didn't float my boat. IMHO the new case is better and prettier.

Not to be snide, but the OP said 5 in blade. The new Case Large Toothpicks are 5 1/2" closed with a 4 1/4" blade. The older model was 5" closed with a 3 7/8" blade (or maybe mine is a bit worn :D)

Yup, really. "...ordinary pocket knife with a blade no longer than four inches..." is how it is stated if I remember right. I suppose that means they could hassle you over a folder with a clip by saying it isn't "an ordinary pocket knife" if it is made to be carried clipped to belt or clothing  Who thinks up these laws, anyway?

Who thinks up these laws, anyway?
Seriously? People who know very little about knives. The laws are rife with misunderstanding and ignorance, and often use terminology which is outdated or inaccurate.

One of AKTI's purposes is to work with legislators to educate them about the subject before they enshrine lack of clarity in the law.

Case reintroduced the 5" (handle) toothpick this year. I believe it comes in two types of scales. Mine is barn board bone (I think), nickel silver bolsters, brass liners, Tru-sharp stainless, razor sharp and excellent fit/finish. A great deal for $50.

I was really pleased to see that Case reintroduced the 5 inch toothpick this year.
I'd love to see a CV version because the Tru-Sharp steel just doesn't do it for me whereas I do think the Case CV is very good.

Still, though, I'll stick with what I posted up at the top of this thread:
