Large vs. Small Sebenza

Pardon me if this has been discussed here previously, but I am considering a sebenza and having a hard time deciding between the large or small version. I am especially interested in hearing how the two sizes compare in their ergonomics, pocket carry, and cutting/slicing. I anticipate using the knife as my EDC for relatively light duty applications. I'd appreciate hearing the impressions of sebenza owners on the large vs small knifes. Bob

I have one small and sold my large a while back. Personally the small suits most needs and seems to me to be a better looking better balanced package overall.

It also seems to sell better on the used market over the large from my own observations although I have seen both sit for a good while before moving.

I like the small Sebenza better myself. The large is just more knife than I ever need and almost enough to make people notice when you pull it out vs the small one.

I suppose it's one of those things about personal taste. Both have their uses. I personally prefer the Large Classic, but a few of my friends like the Small, so both are popular.

So, I can't really say for you :D - it depends on your hand size, carry situations and cutting duties

It was discussed, including some pictures right here

I'd go with the small Sebbie. IMHO it's a better EDC due to it's size coupled with the fact that it will handle 99.9% of what it's big brother is capable of doing.

The small works fine for most uses, the large is better for 'outdoor' stuff' and heavy duty cutting. The large is as large as you would want for pocket carry and nice size handle for large hands like mine.

I carry a large for work as it is easier to use with gloved hands, but do prefer the small for carrying on my days off. The small has more that enough cutting edge for most day to day tasks.

The profiles are spec'ed to be near idential, however there are rather large variances in edge profile, so the cutting ability will change significantly dependingon what exactly you get, a thicker edge small will easily be out cut by a thinner edged large and vice versa. Ergonomics favor the large for heavy work as the handle fills the hand better, the small is favored for precision work just being lighter in hand and easier to manipulate, for similar reasons it carries better.

I own both and as someone mentioned previously I'm also getting closer to selling my large (reg. c.g.g. Stars and Stripes) as I found long ago that the small is a better EDC for my purposes. I also EDC an Al Mar SERE 2000 in my LF pocket due to its dual thumb studs so that pretty much takes care of most lerger tasks.

As far as size goes, I find my Mnandi has a large enough blade for ordinary carry, including filling in as a steak knife when the restaurant version is beneath my exalted taste in knives. :p

The small Sebenza is fine for office work or dress carry, unobtrusive, lightweight, and plenty of blade for most tasks.

Personally, I really, really like my small Classic 2000, but I usually carry a large tanto.

I EDC a large Sebenza (regular style) and it fits my hands just right. It's not out of place in office settings and works superbly for most tasks.

For me a folder with a blade a little over 3.5" works best for most tasks but I also usually cary a smaller pointier knife to cover those .01% of other tasks that are not as well performed by a stout fat blade.

The large and small Sebenza do not seem all that different from looking at their dimentions on paper. They are. Hold them both before deciding.
